Pep comments on the players who may leave

Postby Hazy2 » Sun Feb 21, 2021 10:51 am

Pep has indicated some may wish to leave in the summer.

Who is he referring to. I think one could be Laporte plus Sergio which is heartbreaking but time waits for nobody even the best forward we will ever see imo.

Aguero looks likely and I’d say Fernandinho might be on his way. Garcia is definitely going, would hope we keep Laporte.

If we are lucky we might find a club willing to take Mendy off our hands.

If we can get good money for Laporte I wouldn't be devasted if he moved on.

The money could be put towards a quality Left Back and we'd still have Dias, Stones, Ake and THB as CB's.

Agüero will be gone just like David Silva went in the summer - age eventually catches everyone up .

Mendy has to fuck off as he’s just a waste of a salary -

Laporte might be gone as he probably thinks he should be starting ahead of anyone else so he’s better off elsewhere -

García is gone
Zinchenko might be gone (I hope not)
Fernandino - (coaching role at City )

Question marks on Jesus but that’s about it I reckon .
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Mendy will have to be moved on, at a cost. Zinch, Ake and Cancelo all ahead of him in the pecking order.
I hope Sergio and Laporte stay.
Mahrez I think will be still here next season.

“ What I believe is all the players deserve to stay here for many, many years," Guardiola said. "The quality they have is exceptional, there's no doubts. But year by year the situation is different because there are players who accept some roles and some that don't.

"It's not about the quality, it's about accepting that sometimes you don't play and in that moment the player has to leave.

There are players, for age, personality or many reasons, that accept all the roles. Other ones don't accept it, when they play it is perfect but it is a problem when they don't play with the team.

These players have to reflect and speak with their agents and the club and decide the best for them especially, and for the club as well, so I don't know what is going to happen next season."

Sounds like he’s referring to Laporte and Aguero’s recent comments - “ it's about accepting that sometimes you don't play”

Possibly Mahrez as well.

There are a couple of possible over hyped deals to done in the summer ..........
Haaland and or Messi ,
Players we could use as part of any deal .......
Mahrez , Mendy and Garcia ! Mahrez would command big money for sure and almost every European top club would have him .
Not really here

Good post. Mase . Pep was in the same position when as a player he was not getting the games at Barca. There is a documentary where he says the best the worst players all get moved on in the end. He is starting the process and using his vast experience. He was treated like shit, Messi is going through it now. Pep is showing respect imo.

Mahrez will have to drop his salary expectations if we are to get him off the books - would expect us to get a decent wedge for him. Laporte seems to have seen his arse? Would not be overly concerned if he went - but he would need replacing. Mendy is a write off, take the hit and fuck him off

Players coming and going is a natural process, especially if City want to stay ahead of the domestic game, Challenge seriously for the CL & keep that process going into the future.
Laporte should stay. Over the number of games we would expect to play, add lost players to injury and necessary rotation, most players will get plenty of games over a season.
Mendy is a weak link for us, his leaving would free up funds and we have Zinchenko and Ake as cover.
I reckon Fernandinho could also go with honour, similar to Zabba and El Mago, he's served us well and could elongate hie evening of his career better elsewhere.

Not sure what is going on with Kun, Injury, covid, on the bench but no hurry to give him any minutes is intriguing. If he goes, it will be dependant on a replacement. If he goes, he goes as a City legend.
Sterling, Mahrez should stay, they understand the system and can be game changers.
Jesus does a lot of work but personally I don't think he's good enough for where we want to be. He needs to be replaced.

Aguero should be offered a similar deal to what Yaya was in his final season. A reduced base line salary & heavy incentives based on appearances and success.

He'll be a legend forever but he no longer justifies a 200k a week salary.

I agree with John with regards to Fernandinho he has served us beyond well and should be allowed to go on a high (and a couple more trophies this season).

I also agree with everyone re Mendy, I think enough time has now passed that Peps ego won't stand in the way resolving his departing, I wouldn't half be surprised that somebody upstairs has intervened and sactionted Mendy being moved on and pep having quietly to agree. We can but hope!

Sergio again as John says should go as a club legend and like Fern have a couple of twilight seasons at home in South America or Spain

As much I curse him via frustration, I think Mahrez will stay, I just hope he doesn't continue a constant on team sheet as he is now.

Sterling, despite us turning the season around continues to have his blip, which I doubt we will see next season. He will come good.

If Aymeric goes, it will be his decision and one that I think he would regret. Stay and fight man!

I want to see Nathan and Aleksandr fight over that left back position, whilst it may still be our weakest spot, can anyone suggest a sensible gettable alternative for LB?

Sergio replacement, is surely a no brainer in Haaland? Jesus to play second fiddle and if he can't stay on side, he can go the following summer giving us time to either bring Delap through or identify a replacement. It's a shame as I quite like Gabriel as a person, he's just taking to long to mature on the pitch, I hope he can change that between now and of next season.

So Sergio and Fern through natural process (ageing) and Laporte through his own choice I reckon, so not wholesale changes IMO.

Mahrez is 30 years old. If we want to get decent money for him this summer is the time. If he stays we could probably get another 2-3 years out of him. But that’s all down to whether he’s happy to be rotated and not play every week.
