ESPN are saying we are prepared to wait another year to get Kane @ £100M, we won't pay £150M (the minimum Levy will take apparently)

Beeb gossip this morning said we were willing to wait 12 months for a striker - was hoping that was Haaland. Will probably be Messi next week....

If that’s the case, then it makes the decision to let Sergio go this summer all the more ridiculous.

Agreed. Surely to fuck we have this sorted. I'm hoping this is all shite from the media and we already have a target in the bag - id include Haaland in that if we already have a deal done for next year but if we've let Sergio go without a replacement id say that was gross negligence

If Pep doesn't think that he needs to change the team structure at some point away from a "false 9" then he is not the manager I thought he was in trying to play football that evolves rather than following the same pattern/formula which makes a team predictable to play against.

Maybe it's not that clear cut. Didn't serg want a contract of 2+ years. I thought the club offered 1, but he wasn't happy with that, even though he hardly played in the last 12 months.
Sad as it was it was time for him to go. Could anyone see him scoring a lot next season if he had stayed. I cant, not based on the last year.

The spanish league, is another matter, and if he does reasonably well there, that is no proof that he could have done it with us.
Time to move on.

Like everyone else I loved Serge. He gave us the best moment we've ever had watching City, but (if reports are true) he wanted a 2 year deal, it would have been a huge risk given his injury record over the last 12 months.
Also he needs to play week in week out, which Guardiola rarely does with even the most pivotal players.
He needs a good run of 5-6 games to get back up to speed after each lay off and becomes a passenger, albeit a passenger who can finish, but someone who can't press in the way Pep wants or needs.
Kane's an interesting one for me. His transfer would be 'dead' money as we'll get nothing back. His age and recent injury record go against him BUT marketing wise having the England captain and No 9 is a license to print money.

He came back against Everton and needed no time to score goals?

I reckon we can save £100m and convert Ferran into a striker, Henry style. Absolute class.

I have heard that is the longer term plan for him. Sources at the club are mightily impressed with how his first season has gone and that his finishing is on a higher level than expected

Certainly mileage in him playing up top. Has a decent eye for goal and half decent in the air as well. I rate him

Yes, thinking it for a while now. He may not be an out and out classical striker. But he can finish and he won't cost 150 mill!!

We’d pay that money for another year older and another year with broken ankles?

I know it’s probably an opinion piece but we get him now or not at all.

His choice, and Spurs choice for far less than what is being reported. Absolutely love what Kane does but no way we will be paying Levy prices.
