Loved the one in 94, one of the very best.
& Mexico - 48 teams = overload
48 teams! There's only what, I guess about 200 countries in the world with a national team.
A 48 team tournament is ridiculous. Just shows how much of a farce international football has become.
Don't worry, the Irish and the Romanians will somehow find a way to miss this.
Well I don't know about that. But out of curiosity I had a look, 211 teams in FIFAs rankings list, probably 150 of them are totally useless at football. So with 48 teams you would have to wonder why there is a qualification process at all.

Looking at today's rankings, a 48-team World Cup would look like this:
UEFA (16 places): Belgium, France, England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Wales, Sweden, Serbia, Poland, Ukraine
AFC (8 places): Iran, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Iraq
CONCACAF (6 places): Mexico*, USA*, Canada*, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica
CONMEBOL (6 places): Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Chile
CAF (9 places): Senegal, Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Cameroon, Algeria, Mali, Ivory Coast
OFC (1 place): New Zealand
Play-offs: 2 from Solomon Islands, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Burkina Faso, Oman
