Community Shield **NEW KO of 16:00**

Postby CTID Hants » Sun Jun 18, 2023 11:18 am

Anyone thinking of going?

We Are 1884 calling for a boycott due to the absolutely ridiculous KO time...

Here's their statement plastered all over socials and backed by 3 of the City Matters committee

Dear Manchester City fans,

1894 urge you to join us in boycotting the Community Shield game against Arsenal on August 6th. The 17:30 kick-off time presents significant travel challenges from Manchester, making it difficult for many loyal supporters to attend. It's time match-going fans were treated as a priority rather than an afterthought.

By boycotting this fixture, we aim to send a strong message to the FA and ITV about the impact scheduling has on fans. Our collective absence from the stadium will demonstrate our discontent and advocate for fairer game times in the future.

We understand the love and dedication you have for City, but we believe that our collective action will bring about positive change. We ask fans, who are in a position to do so, to make either a £10 donation, or the equivalent cost of a match ticket, to MCFCfoodbank or another local charity. Please follow our social media pages for more information (@weare1894).

Not sure if I’m going and should be up to individuals if they want to. However, the time they’ve scheduled this for is an absolute piss-take, leaving Blues with a late drive back or stay over in London. Either way, it’s probably an extra day off at work and a lot of money to spend.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

Not to mention it’s a lot of money and effort to go to, to watch a second City string who will be half arsed.

I assume with the time of KO, that there will be realistically no trains available after the match, especially if it went beyond 90 minutes. Do the decision makers at the completely disregard the impact it has on fans? They must do.

Can completely understand a huge number of fans won’t want the added cost and inconvenience for what will essentially be our last pre season friendly

It goes straight to penalties without extra time, doesn't it?

100% not gonna be a full strength team. Throw in the possibility of yet another rail strike. They’ll keep taking the piss until something is done. No consideration for our fans in any of this.

Any reason why they can’t do 3pm? It’s literally an hour earlier for them but will save loads of fans hassle after the game. Utter cunts

The 17:30 slot basically makes it better for global viewing figures, West Coast US it is 09:30, India will be 22:30, Thailand 23:30, China 00;:30 & Sydney 02:30
