Speak for yourself . I'm sure there are a lot of Stockport based boys and girls who enjoyed that. I thought it was fine

Fair enough lets all not fucking bother eh and leave the atmosphere to the day trippers and tourists. The home atmosphere is wank as it is so anything to lift it gets my vote

There can be no excuses for a chumps league quarter final but in the main it is wank and has been for some time. We've been spoilt for a long time and it shows in our home support

Home support, as you point out , is fuckign embarrassing more often than not.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Asked early doors in the match thread if the atmosphere was there because it wasn’t coming through on TV. Of course, TNT could have something to do with it. And the second half was noticeably louder and singing more often.

When compared with the atmosphere at the start in Madrid or at Anfield or Milan or Dortmund with the flags and tiffo’s and noise it does make an inhospitable environment for the away side. We didn’t have that, or at least seem to and maybe this was why we started very slowly and were then on the back foot for most of the game. Massive difference to the same fixture a year ago and look how that panned out

And when we did score Madrid were shaken. It does affect players and we are not great at it

My mate said that but I thought it sounded loud

The issue is (me included for last night) real fans aren't going and are selling them to gimps

Perhaps our fans get bored of the slow build up possession football, with few shots on goal against teams parking 10 men in defence. I know i do. The open game in Madrid was a far better watch. Fail to understand why we waste so many minutes trying to carve out an attempt on goal. We take relatively shots/attempts per minute of possession and at times its like watching paint dry. Away from home most teams are not parking the bus, games are a better watch our fans pro rata are more vociferous and more solid and make more noise

This "we don't shoot" idea has been mentioned a lot, both here and in the match thread. But the stats tell a different story. We had 67% possession over the 120 minutes, so had the ball for approximately 80 minutes to Madrid's 40 minutes. We also had 33 attempts on goal in that time, which is one every two and a half minutes. Madrid had 8, or one every 5 minutes. And those times assume the ball is in play the whole time, which it isn't, meaning the minutes per attempt is actually lower than 2.5 minutes... so the argument doesn't stand up.

Good on you for looking up the stats and proving a good point.

However no stat can prove when we are in a good position to get the ball into the box or take a shot we end up passing it sideways on the edge of the area. People can use their eyes to see that, hence it mentioned throughout the match thread every time it happened.

Josko has whacked a few in the last few weeks and look what’s happened. Foden has done the same and scored some screamers.
I think what people are asking for is doing that a bit more - because it’s been proven to work against a team with 11 men behind the ball. Sometimes when a player that isn’t Foden has the ball on the edge and could shoot they just look to the side and pass it. So much so that Haaland and Kev ended up nodding off and going to bed.

Yet the 33 attempts didn't amount to much . 1 goal and Haaland nodding against the bar. The stats show 88 touches in their penalty area which is alot. It tends to indicate we are trying to work an opening close to goal rather than shoot at a further distance which worked well at their place uet was largely ignored by us at home. Pep's tactic is clearly 'if we have the ball they can't score', but our players are often static in attack around the box and we take too much time fucking about trying to walk it in . We win posseion very well so i dont see a problem shooting more a little bit further out. For all our possession 33 attempts could have been 40/50? And two and a half minutes is a bloody long time to watch players endlessly pass it back and forth across the last third bore they decide to attempt to scare a keeper . Its a boring watch. Have more attempts, surrender some pissession and beat a team in more open play. Make them come out of defence, break their formation and counter them beore they can reform. Inject a bit of pace into the game. Sometimes our games despite our possession and wins have been as dull as fuck. I like the success its been great but is our brand of football exciting?
