City

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I don't have much to contribute here as an overseas fan. But I began supporting City because we were the underdogs. I had a hard time coming to terms with winning the lottery and was very conflicted about supporting one of the best teams in the world. I did get used to it, though (it's fucking sweet as nectar), but always knew it would stop some day. We might not be there yet, but I perversely enjoy the set back we're facing at the moment.

The football fatigue everyone else is mentioning, I am feeling too. But I think that is because we're growing old together as as a community. I wasn't even in my 30's when I joined this site, and now I'm close to fucking 50. The fire's gone.

And the state of modern football also plays its part. As other have mentioned, there's just too much football, and it is far too commercialized and sanitized. It's become a product rather than a life style.

If it wasn't for City I would have given football up a while back.

Has nothing to do with what I loved. Now is a fucking corrupt sport.

Maybe, but when I first started going to City in 1965 they were a second division team. For the best part they did their utmost for the club. Today we have players more concerned with Instagram followers & such social media sites. I was young but was convinced the players were trying & achieving the best they could. We did have talent like Nelly Young, Glyn Pardoe & Alan Oakes, the Mercer & Allison came the rest is history. I never missed a game, the Kippax was a cauldron & some of the football fantastic. Maybe because I am older I don't get the feeling players are giving all when going gets tough. Pep has obviously lost what little plot he had left. Continuing with players who should not be in the team. Disjointed team set up, players not in their best positions, the perfect shit storm. I do not see improvement unless something changes. Any organised team will beat us at the moment. All managers know sit deep, break quickly with pace & City are fucked.
Anyway fuck it Happy Christmas to all posters & their loved ones

Been there done it all from the 70's to present day.
I wouldn't swap any of the last ten yrs for the early years.
Watching the best football ever witnessed and seeing the clubs implode around us has been superb. You cannot stay at the levels we have without a drop off especially with injuries to our squad, the club have dropped a bollock last window not bringing in and getting rid of ageing players, but a rebuild will be done and hopefully be back as strong as ever.
Pep the best manager I've ever witnessed and I for one would never want him to leave, stubborn yes but he will find a way to turn this around.
Support the badge, players come and go along with managers!!!
