Never rated him as a top player, still don't as I've never really seen what he's all about.

But it's hard to justify Pep's treatment of him from the day he walked through the door. Grealish must have known what Pep expected of him, and he's delivered - his retention of the ball and distribution has been a fantastic part of what got us to the treble, albeit not spectacular, he was a spoke in the wheel that performed to a phenomenal standard all season.

Assuming Pep is staying, which he 99.99% is doing, then Jackie has to be sold. He and Pep simply don’t gel and/or see eye to eye for whatever reason. It’s a great pity as he is a top player and I think he’ll do well elsewhere.

If we were to have a change of manager then it would have been worth keeping him. But realistically that isn’t happening

I've got to say - with the caveat of not knowing what's gone/going on behind the scenes - I'm really, really disappointed by how he's been treated by Pep.

I can't remember which final it was, but I think it was the FA Cup win over the Rags. I watched the trophy presentation, and Grealish was the only player to make a point of congratulating every single member of the backroom staff. And not just congratulating them, but sharing in the celebrations with them. Until that point, I'd only seen the media portrayal of him as a 'party guy' (and yes, you do see this too in parades, etc.). But he seemed to know each and every one of them, and was genuinely happy to share the moment with them. Maybe he's just too personable to be a top-level professional, and it distracts him from what, at the end of the day, is the job he's paid to do.

There's no doubt he's the nicest guy in the team. Everytime he's played at home he's always made a point of going into the stands at the end and chatting while presenting his shirt to a kid.

That's the rub. If he wants to resurrect his career he'll either have to remain a city player on loan with us paying half his wages or he'll have to take a big pay cut to sever ties with us. If Pep has only one year left then it's plausible he could spend that year on loan and then come back and play for a different manager.

People say he should play centrally. On the few occasions he was given a chance there for both City and England for me he was still disappointing. Never a winger and never a 100 million player. Scoring record terrible best part of his game is drawing fouls.

Whilst I've spent innumerable days on the piss, in my youth, and can therefore sympathise with the idea, it doesn't fit in with modern football. And, although Pep doesn't say anything except 'I like my players to relax', that's bollox and his card was marked.

The first time, after the treble, he got himself unfit and injured for nearly a year. Does he learn? Still doing it a few weeks ago

There have been plenty of times this (last) season where he'd have been in my starting 11 or the first to come off the bench due to both injuries and lack of gameplan. I agree he wouldn't be in a starting 11 when we've got a full-strength squad, but last season we never did have. As someone said above, the best part of his game is drawing fouls; not only is this worth goals, but it allows us to slow down the game when tiring - something that was desperately needed in the final 15 minutes of a game last season (when 11 of the 32 goals conceded in games where we dropped points were scored).

He has personal demons which go back to the death of his young brother - (just my take)and I reckon he thinks fuck it, enjoy life. Cannot fault him for that. Its not worked out for him here but he has more medals than most when he looks back. Just hope that he gets a move to a club that lets him express himself and he cracks on but honestly, I'd be surprised if he does

I know that we don't know all that goes on, but from the outside, thats exactly where his head is at and then he goes off on the pop and the circle continues. He clearly needs help, this nonsense of him going into rehab and then going back on the town say that someone needs to get him to sort his shit out. Unfortunately, it starts with him and I don't think he has it in himself to do it
