We should have been 5/6 nil up at half time the other night. Thats on the players.

We've played some great stuff in the CWC - remember this is pretty much pre-season so lets not over react.

We'll blow everyone away this season when it starts proper

There has been far too much of an over-reaction from the Pep out lads, the online hate for Ederson is sick and these people are nothing short of brain dead morons. It was a tournament that many of the payers didn't want, so that is it, done deal. I am glad its over for us. Wont miss it one bit, wont bother watching any more of it. It was just a terrible tournament.

Dont think we will be blowing everyone away but I believe we will improve significantly and it will be a much better season in the league and champions league. Not saying were going to win the league or anything but we will be in the mix, unlike last season when we were out of it in November.

Having said that a good start is crucial.

Fair enough if you think the tournament was pointless — but using that to dismiss genuine concerns is just papering over cracks.
Let’s also not pretend this is all about the Club World Cup. The warning signs have been there since early last season:
We were 8 points off the top in November and we lost 7 league games — our most under Pep. Our football became passive and predictable - Haaland was isolated most of the time and creativity fell off a cliff. As for Ederson — no, he doesn’t deserve hate, but he’s not above criticism either. He made zero saves in the shootout and hasn’t looked the same for a while - he’s gone backwards at an alarming rate - he even admits he’s been shit.
The “Pep out” lot ( Me ) might be fucking extreme , but brushing everything off with “we’ll improve” is more
about having blind faith than looking at what’s infront of us - Improvement isn’t automatic either , Pep has to adapt, because teams have figured us out, and the system isn’t scaring anyone anymore - those are just facts .

If we sleepwalk into the season thinking last year was just a fucking blip then we’ll be “out of it in November” again.

The tournament was pointless, i watched it the same way I'd watch any City pre season friendly if we were on telly.
This papering over the cracks rubbish. The facts are we had a shit October to December last season.
The facts are also if the league table was from Jan 1 we'd be top.
Bring on next season.

If you think going into a competition with a 100 million payday is pointless then you are dumber than I previously thought.
Also , the season starts in fucking August and not January the 1st.

Pointless to the players and fans not the money men. We got a 40 odd million pay day..
You keep going on about the warning signs. The facts are we improved massively this calendar year hence more points than any other team which is why we comfortably made CL positions which at one point was not on the cards. It's a top foundation for this season.

I would hope no match that a City plays in is pointless. Obviously some are more important than others. But even in pre season you are playing to impress the manager and to gel with your team mates.

If losing a final to a shit team, crashing out of the Champions League, and playing some of the most uninspiring, risk-averse football of the Pep era counts as “massive improvement,” then I honestly don’t want to know what your fucking definition of underperforming is.

Once again - we have seen NOTHING from pep to convince us he is adapting.

It's a glorified pre season friendly and going out when we did means the players get about 4 weeks off before they report back so should be all firing for the important stuff.
Plenty of the players impressed so that side of it worked.

And if getting more points than the other 19 teams this calendar year and 2nd half of the season doesn't show you massive improvement then you want to look at some of your own definitions.

So it wasn’t pointless for the players then?

The fans, absolutely I get were indifferent, so it was very much pointless for us. I for one watched about 5 minutes of the first game and nothing since.

Didn't Cherki opt to join us early because he was desperate to play in the competition?

Season's over 38 games. We did better at the end but overall it was a shite season finishing 17 points behind to a shit Liverpool. The overall swing being 20 points plus season on season Crap exits out of the League Cup, Champions League and an embarassing loss to Palace( another average team beating us like all others did) does not add up to a great finish. The CLub World Cup is in its infancy, i dont particularly like it but its a money spinner and we got to see our new signings. It was good to see us against Juve but once again the wheels fell off against Al Hilal. Pep needs to modify his thinking or he will continue is downward spiral. Stats are wonderful but season on season his are worse. We lose more, we concede more and our play is boring for most of our games.

Simply put , Pep needs to adapt — otherwise, he’s heading down the same fucking road as Mourinho. And people (you ) seriously need to stop defending the undefendable.
We saw enough in this tournament to be genuinely worried about how he’s going to manage us this season. It’s the same patterns, same overcomplications, same stale football — nothing looks different.

And that’s the problem: I want to see something fucking different*. He’s spent £400 million — we should be demanding progress, not settling for the same turgid, lifeless stuff we had to endure last season.

I said before and I’ll say again - first 5 games he’s got for me.
