And when City do make it to the top it won't be right because the best teams, the truly successful ones, can afford to keep their badge simple and let their results speak for themselves. Even from a purely aesthetic point of view it's too fussy. Any advertising person (though I'm not one) knows that simple is good, like the Nike swoosh. Looking at other football clubs' badges there's an elegance about Arsenal's cannon, Tottenham's cockerel, even Liverpool's liver bird that this star-spangled monstrosity doesn't have.

I think you're lookin into the badge a little too deeply..As for the ones you have listed- A pigeon on a basketball (Spurs), and I know shit loads of Arsenal fans that hate their badge as they say it reminds them of the Warner brothers loony toons logo, and I can see where they're comin from. And then to say ours is 'too busy' and then use Liverpools badge as an example of nice badges is a bit laughable!!

Its actually a little uncomfortable to read City fans saying how they hate our badge!! the symbol of our club!! Its shocking.

I love our current badge. It makes a darn nice tatoo as well.

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It's a bit early for pills.

I don't know, everyone just seems to hate these days. Every other topic is about how such and such pundit is a cunt or how this or that paper is "against us".

We just need to feel the love again, brother.

I don't think the badge is too busy. I like it. The stars we could do without or, even better, we could earn them.

I love the new crest, well, it's not really new any more is it but you know what i mean. I wouldn't want to change back to the old one but i much preffered the Maltese Cross we had back in the day.

It would cost the club a fortune to change the club crest.. I'm not sure we can afford it.

I'm not so much arsed about that Dazza...more the fact that we have them in the first place...that someone came up with the design...and then that someone at city said...'That Looks Great'

I mean come on!

I think it was actually: "Someone came up with the design, then someone at city said, "That Looks Great... but can't we have some stars?"

We could of course just say that the stars point to the fact that we have won all three major domestic honours - though I'd prefer FIVE stars, to include the Charity Shield and the Cup Winners' Cup ;@)

I don't know if this is correct but I was under the assumption we had to ditch the old crest because it did not meet the distinctive criteria needed to become a trademark. As the new owners want to mass market the club internationally, this will become even more important than it was previously. Does anyone know if this is correct?
For what it is worth, I like both crests but prefer the old one if it were up to me.

Also worth noting that the eagle is sort of a national icon in abu dhabi, i believe.

That badge apparently made some difference when the sheikh made the choice between us, arse and newcastle. I doubt very much sheikh mansour will change it.

Don't t sack the badge, stability is the key! Maybe we should have the stars changed to dark grey, and have them changed to gold each time we win a trophy, similar to the way McDonald's staff earn kudos. Maybe. This would mean a redesign in about four years though, as we'd need more space for stars. Hmm, tricky...

Seriousy though, I quite like the new badge now, wasn't keen at first as I love the old one, but it's grown on me.

I'd be open to us having one for home and one for away. Or is that just daft? Might blow the marketing people's heads apart.

Their badge says a lot about them. They've removed the words 'Football Club' and left the devil on there.

I was a big fan of the old old badge that had the Manchester City football Club logo around the City of Manchester crest.
I was never a huge fan of losing the stripes and adding the Lancashire rose.

I think our new badge is excellent. Every part of it is pertinebt to Manchester, including the eagle, which was used historically by Manchester and denotes our Roman foundations....All except for those fucking useless fucking stars.

Oh!...and while I am at it...a note to those thick bastards at the swamp who dangle that banner with "Republica Mancunia" in the mistaken belief that Mancunia is some historical latin name for our City...Well yer stupid uneducated thick rag twats...it isn't...and it never was....To the Romans...we were MAMUCIA. So fuck off back to Londinium and try again....rant over...thank you.
