Parking on weds

Postby bluej » Tue May 04, 2010 3:09 pm

Hi guys and gals,

normally i get the bus up to the ground but I'm coming with two that are driving tomorrow - does anyone know where is best to park (ideally for free) and is within reasonable walking distance of townley / the ground?

Thanks in advance.

Share the cost, FIVE DABS and park in the school grounds next to The Townley.

Tell the poor guy where to park then.

Or just go for a drink after the game and wait for the traffic to clear.

Riverpark rd off briscow lane that runs behined the cemetry - you can park there foc if your early. Failing that the carpark on the industrial est there is pretty big and seems to clear quickly! Parked on the road loadsa times and been ok - plus its a pleasant walk through the cemetry. I however will be getting wasted so scum shuttle for me!!

Off Ashton Old Road is okay. Loads of High-vis jackets try to get you to park on their forecourts, but street is free.

Gorton????

Parking up near Gorton Lane is ideal. 15 mins walk and no traffic when you get out. Straight onto Hyde road too.

Does Ashton Old Road get so busy that you'd not go for the 5 min walk parking in Beswick/Openshaw instead? Genuine question as I come from the opposite direction

I doubt there will be any parking the bus on Wednesday night, might have to arrange alternate travel plans.

I find the Alan Turing Way/ Ashton Old Road junction can be a bit of a pain in the arse being blocked by police for a good while.

When I was driving I lived in Reddish so Gorton Lane was ideal. I quite like walking too though.
