World Cup 2010 - Omens point to England win

England fans worried about England's crunch World Cup clash with Slovenia on Wednesday can take heart from two lucky omens in the Three Lions' favour.

Fabio Capello's side will wear an all-red kit for the game in Port Elizabeth, following in the footsteps of England players at the 1962 World Cup, who won two games in the unusual strip.

England's regular change strip consists of red shirts, white shorts and red socks, but FIFA insist that all teams in South Africa offer a darker option if they cannot wear their first-choice white kit.

And the game will be shown live on the BBC, the station that boasts a 62 per cent win record when televising England World Cup games.

Results since 1982, when their games have been split between the BBC and ITV, show that England do better than when their games are aired on ITV, which has just a 30 per cent win rate.

Both England's previous games at the current World Cup have been televised by ITV. England drew the first 1-1 with the USA before putting in a dire performance in a goalless stalemate with Algeria.

Those results have put Steven Gerrard's side on the brink of a humiliating exit from the tournament, although victory against Slovenia will ensure they progress to the knockout stages.

I be more impressed if we were dropping Rooney, different coloured shorts aren't going to fix the crap that was on display in the last game
