I'd move Tevez to the right, Johnson to the left and put Silva in middle. Other than that, I dig that line up. I like the idea of giving Kolo a go at the right back. Reckon he'd be decent there.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I had carefully considered Ireland John, he showed 2 years ago that he certainly is good enough, especially in the Barcelona friendly when he carried Messi around in his pocket like a set of car keys. I agree he has certainly lost his way and isnt showing what he can do, but he has an ability I think he has almost forgotten himself, has age on his side and has good enough distribution to boss the centre of the park for quite a few years. Nedum Onouha said on Soccer AM just 2 or 3 months ago that despite the incredible signings Ireland is still the best player he has ever played with. Although I highly suspect Stevie will never show his quality here again but will find an amazing ressurection elsewhere?

I agree that we need a replacement for Zabaleta, but I think Zaba is better than Bridge, and since Boateng covers LB so well then i'd rather play him out of position than play Bridge.

Zaba is a strange one. Sometimes good, sometimes awful. If we fail to sign anyone else though I would prefer Lescott at LB and Boateng at RB, with Komps back in! Bobby had just named Lescott at LB for the first time when he got injured in the warm-up I think.

I'd be happy with Lescott at left back too if he works out well there, but I personally would keep Kompany on the bench and not because I dont think he is good enough for our first team, but because Kompany is so versatile, he can fill in about 6 positions so he would be the perfect supersub to almost half the squad.

Alternatively, play him because he is good as you say, and then move him around if required to fill in any one of the six positions as you point out, you can't exclude a guy because he's versatile.

True, I was thinking super sub as he can change games, I love the fact that City have gone from the predicament of who's good enough to get in the squad to who's too good to leave out?

Agree about Silva in the middle, although I think there should and will be a lot of free movement between Tevez and him.

Still think we have David Luiz/Kolarov to come in this window plus another top class striker so it's a little early for team predictions

No huge on the idea of JoCott becoming a regular left back. He's a center half who can fill in a full back. He's probably the second best center back in the squad so play him there.

The area of the team where you need stability is at the back, the midfield and attack requires options for different opposition, styles of play, and tactics.

So my back 5 would be

-----------------------Hart

Richards---Kompany-----Lescott------Bridge

The other 6 spots will be liquid depending on opposition.

Vince would be our captain also.

I think that little lot would be a good basis to build a team on. Ideally i'd like to see better players in the full back positions (Kolarov and Boateng perhaps??) but if you were picking the best back 5 you could from whats available, thats currently mine.

I rate Zabba higher than Micah, if he could just rid himself of his more unpolished actions. But I really do agree that the fullback positions need strengthening. We need back up for Bridge (or someone Bridge can back up for) and it would be great finding a top class right back as well, even tough both Micah and Zabba are more than decent.
