Latics fans must have thought they had pulled off the biggest transfer coup in the club's history when they saw the name of Vincent Kompany on their team sheet in yesterday's friendly at Barrow.
Surely Latics had not managed to prise the brilliant Belgium away from Manchester City. Besides, he cost them a cool £6million.
Barrow mistakenly placed the name of Vincent Kompany on the team sheet when it ought to have been his younger brother Francois, a left back/left-sided midfielder who is on trial at Latics.
To make matters worse Francois, who last season played at Macclesfield Town, is the spitting image of Vincent which only served to confuse a broadcaster from BBC Radio Cumbria who was commentating live on the match.
He immediately zoned in on Kompany regaling the radio station's listeners that it was the Manchester City player who was making a comeback from injury.
After making several references to Vincent Kompany playing, a note was passed to the commentator informing him that it wasn't Vincent but Francois which forced him to give a lengthy explanation as to the mix up.
Found that quite amusing myself lol.

I'm sure both the listeners were quite amused too.

Hehe, funny that. Francois is supposedly a pretty decent player, my mate Hannes used to play alongside him at Beerschot.

He'll be about 19, maybe 18. Decent enough, but not Prem standard. Southampton were interested in him a few years back, from what I've been told.
