Premier League striker Kelvin Etuhu arrested over casino fracas
Enlarge Manchester City midfielder Kelven Etuhu has been arrested after an affray in a Manchester casino
Manchester City striker Kelvin Etuhu was arrested after three people were injured in a dispute at a casino.
The 22-year-old forward, who spent last season on loan at Cardiff City, was held on suspicion of wounding. He is due to answer bail next week.
Police were called to the 235 Casino in Manchester city centre after reports of a disturbance.
Two men, aged 24 and 26, and a 23-year-old woman were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary for treatment to injuries. Mr Etuhu and another man, Leonard Rico Richards, 27, from Longsight, were later arrested.
Crown lawyers must now decide whether the men are to be charged. After emerging through City's Academy ranks, Mr Etuhu made his first senior appearance in September 2007.
Competition for places meant he was loaned to Leicester City towards the end of the 2007/08 season.
He suffered a hamstring injury at the beginning of the 2008/09 season which forced him out well into the New Year.
In August last year, he was loaned to Cardiff for the rest of the season. During that loan spell he returned to City for treatment after picking up an ankle injury in December.

Manchester City re-sign goalkeeper Stuart Taylor
Goalkeeper Stuart Taylor has re-signed for Manchester City, nine days after being released by the Premiership side.
Former Aston Villa keeper Taylor, 29, made one first-team appearance for City last term and missed the end of the season with a knee injury.
Having signed a two-year contract, Taylor joins Shay Given and Joe Hart in the battle to be City's number one.
Last season's first choice, Given, is currently working his way back to fitness after a dislocated shoulder.
With Given and Taylor both injured in April, and Hart on a season-long loan at Birmingham City, City manager Roberto Mancini was forced to draft in Marton Fulop on emergency loan from Sunderland as cover.
Taylor joined Manchester City in June 2009, having been signed by then-manager Mark Hughes as understudy to Ireland international Given
The former England Under-21 keeper spent four years at Villa and won a Premier League winner's medal during an eight-year spell with Arsenal.

Or Shay Given cold shoulder:
Joe Hart's promotion and new deal for Stuart Taylor could see Manchester City future in doubt
Cold shoulder? Shay Given
Shay Given's future at Manchester City has been thrown in doubt after reserve-team goalkeeper Stuart Taylor was yesterday handed a new two-year contract.
Given, recovering from a shoulder injury, now faces being frozen out at Eastlands, with City manager Roberto Mancini promising Joe Hart he will start the season as No 1, to stop him from asking to go out on loan again.
Hart’s promotion leaves Given in the cold for the first time since he was signed 18 months ago by Mark Hughes.
Although rated as one of Hughes’ best signings, his relatively small size led to complaints that he failed to dominate his area as City missed out on a Champions League place.

Martin O'Neill is convinced he will land Robbie Keane from Tottenham and Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland as part of the merry-go-round.
Ireland is already being dangled in front of Everton as bait for Mikel Arteta but O'Neill has asked for him as part of the £25million package for James Milner.
City chief executive Garry Cook is expected to close the £25m deal for Milner shortly Ireland could be part of the deal.
O'Neill will use the funds to pay for Keane's arrival from Spurs and he is also expecting around £3m to come in from Fulham.
Out-of-favour Villa midfielder Steven Sidwell is expected to bring in another £3m by joining Fulham.
Sidwell is desperate to return to London after two years in the Midlands and will seal his move to Craven Cottage before the start of the season.

Juve: Adebayor alternative to Dzeko
Juventus are battling Manchester City for Edin Dzeko, but it’s reported they could give up the Wolfsburg striker in exchange for Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Bianconeri and Roberto Mancini’s side have been the front-runners in the race for Dzeko all summer.
This weekend director of sport Beppe Marotta confirmed that Juve were targeting their resources on the 24-year-old and Tuttosport claims he’ll fly out to Germany tomorrow for negotiations.
There is another meeting between Wolfsburg and Manchester City directors planned for Wednesday, so Juve aim to get in there first.
However, there could be another Plan B in the works for the Bianconeri.
It’s rumoured that if City do win the race for Dzeko, it will effectively release Adebayor towards Juve.
The Togo international had already been close to Serie A last summer in advanced talks with Milan.

Manchester City will tour the USA during part of the 2010 Pre-Season as they will play a variety of clubs. Among the teams are Sporting Lisbon from Portugal, the New York Red Bulls from MLS, Club America from the Mexican Primera Division, and Inter Milan of the Italian Serie A.
Below is the full schedule of the matches along with the television listings (not all are available but this page will be updated as that becomes available).

Saturday, 24 July 2010
Sporting v Man City, 01:00 BST, 20:00 EST – Fox Soccer Channel (USA), ESPN (UK)

Sunday, 25 July 2010
Red Bull New York v Man City, 20:00 BST, 15:00 EST – Fox Soccer Channel (USA), ESPN (UK)

Thursday, 29 July 2010
Club America v Man City, 01:00 BST, 20:00 EST – ESPN (UK), USA tv yet to be announced

Sunday, 1 August 2010
Inter Milan v Man City, 01:00 BST, 20:00 EST – ESPN (UK), USA tv yet to be announced

would be horrible for us as Ade is a fantastic player who we need to keep and you'd be hardpressed to find anyone who has all the skills he's got. Horrible post. Horrible thought of getting rid of Ade.

cheers

I have to disagree, i can't really see why people want him gone. He played 25 games last season scoring 14 goals and im sure it would have been alot more if it wasn't for him getting banned for a shit load of games and he also had the shooting to deal with. Ade is a top player and i think we would be stupid to let him go.

im with you...didn't feel that way about Ireland about a month ago, but if it's true about Ireland pushing back as being makeweight in a Milner deal then hats off to him. Maybe the lads got the stones to step up again and with Silva and Yaya around him maybe he can find that chemistry he seems to go missing without...

Regardless, losing Ade would be a really shortsighted move in my opinion. So effing versatile. Few strikers have that much ability with his feet, his head, his pace, his ball skills. Ade might get slack for being lazy, but i honestly think that's style more than substance. We've only seen the prelude with Ade.

if you just jinxed the Dutch Chinners i'll never forgive you. Never.

Strangely, Nando scored 18 goals in the league last season, which was so under the radar it's not even funny. I can't even recall a single one that seeemed to matter. I'm sure that's not the case, but you get my point. i'd rather Dzeko on an emotional level. Dunno if that's right or not, but it's how i feel.

cheers

£100 mil before WC final

Worth bugger all after WC final.
