England's team for Brazil 2014

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

England's team for Brazil 2014

Postby paulmclaren » Thu Jul 15, 2010 11:45 pm

As England try to put the horror of their dismal display in South Africa behind them, one thing that might cheer up the fans is looking to the future.

The England squad before heading to South Africa, but who will travel to Brazil in 2014?(Steve Parsons, PA Wire)

Steve Parsons, PA Wire

Which England players will travel to the World Cup in Brazil 2014?

As the era of the so-called 'Golden generation' came to such a catastrophic end it is easy to become mired in doom and gloom that England could fall off the international radar for years to come.

plays for sunderland - not a bad player, but clearly needs work.

where are rodwell and cattermole? i thought they were supposed to be the central midfield pairing for the next two cups?

Wilshere, Young, Agbonlahor, Richards, Cahill, [strike]Smalling[/strike]

I actually think there are some pretty decent players in that lot, shame we don't have the balls to sack off half the shit that was at the World Cup and play the youngsters. We might not qualify for the Euro's, but by the time the next World Cup comes round and they've been playing together for 4 years, they could be a very good side.

If we have to rely on Sturridge or Agbonlahor we're in even worse shit that I thought. Hopefully someone quality will come through.

There's a rag called Tom Cleverly who'll be involved, as he's a rag & his name's Tom Cleverly.

Michael Johnson is no longer on the physio.com injury list for City. Does that means he is fit to play? If he can fight his way into the team that we are now building and can STAY THERE then who knows for the next world cup...

Agree Ted, Sturridge thinks his shit doesn't stink now, can you imagine him playing for England? talented but misdirected. As for Agbonlahor, football brain the size of a peanut, like most of them.

I say qualyfying is the best people can hope for, then, being tough to beat, forgetting about winning it, just competing and looking like a unit.

They should start by kicking out all the players who will be too old for the next World Cup. Bollox to the Euro's, if we qualify then great, but start building a team & system for the next world cup. They also need to remember that they'll have to control the ball & pass it when they get there (as it'll be too hot to sprint after it) so players who are shit footballers (Like Micah & Agbonlahor) need to be told they need to put in extra training to improve their technique or they won't be going.

There has got to be a better RB than Johnson, the guy is pants. His defending is abysmal, and his one redeming feature is the odd decent cross he puts in once every 10 games.

Spot on, couldn't agree more. To many England players can't do the basics of controlling and passing the ball correctly. We need to build a team, in the true sense of the word, and if that mean some big names fall by the wayside then so be it.

I was thinking that on reading the replies and I also think Defoe and Joe Cole will still be worth considering. Also I think our Joleon will be in the side.
