Trimming the squad

Postby TheGOAT » Wed Jul 28, 2010 6:58 pm

Was just thinking about this. With us not in any need to raise money from sales. Would it be in our intrest to loan the players we don't want to other teams in the premiership, each with clauses that state they cant play against us.

This would help these teams take points off of our rivals. And also cause teams to be missing a regular when we play them, the same way Birmingham missed Hart last season

...just a thought

To be honest, right now we don't have that many fringe players who would cause me nightmares if we were meeting them.

There are players like RSC and Jo, who we badly overpaid for to begin with and whose value will keep dropping at rapid rate. In RSC's case he is also on ridiculous contract. We need to get rid of players like this PERMANENTLY. No matter where they play, we keep constantly making loss.

Then there are players like Nedum and possibly Ireland, who may still have something to give for us especially as they are homegrown. I'd consider sending them on loan but should big bid come in we should consider it.

Developing youngsters we should let go only on loan obviously but we also need to keep some of them as back ups in this new system. Namely Weiss and Boyata. Possibly Nimley as well although I think he could do with three month spell in Championship.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I quite seeing our younger players go out on loan. Not only because it gives them valuable first team experience at a good level but also give’s me something to look out for when City aren’t playing on a Saturday.

No point putting the likes of Ireland and Nedum out on loan. If they aren’t going to make it here then let them go. I’d throw Weiss in there with that lot as well actually. I wouldn’t mind seeing Boyota sent out on lone to one of the lower Premiership teams as from what I saw from him briefly last year I reckon he could do a good job for someone.

Nedum would benefit from a year out on loan somewhere if its felt we have enough bodies at the back. A year of playing regular premier league football at center half, where he is at his best could be the making of him. I think as a center half he has alot of potential and he showed it in Hughes's first season in charge when he played really well alongside Dunne.

After watching Vladi last night, i think he needs first team football for a season somewhere. Lots of talent but very little know how.

To me, the likes of Jo, Caicedo, Garrido, Etuhu dont have the allround ability and so I would be looking at perminent moves there.

i actually agree with OP, id be all for loaning them out, most of them are good players who its not working for for one reason or another. Whos to say a different manager wont get more out of them?

For eg Ireland, if we sell him it will bite us in the arse. guaranteed. Id rather loan him out so that should mancini get sacked we dont have to pay silly money to buy him back when hes one of the best around. Some players eg ireland and onouaha would be better if we had a a different manager so id be happy to loan them on the chance mancini is sacked and the new manager wants them and can get somethin out of them.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Ned's problem is he's not very good in the air v big PL CF's. Whether he can find a successful method of challenging for the ball against these blokes could be the decider in his future but he won't learn it sat on the bench with us.

Weiss imo has got as much talent & pace as AJ, possibly more, but as you say, hasn't got a scooby how to play football. If he can learn it by playing more, he could still be live up to his promise in the future. He needs to be playing all the time though & I'm not sure a PL team will give him the games, he may be better off in the Championship or abroad.

Although I've been one of Jo's biggest critics, I'd still like to see a bit more of him before getting rid. Imo he does have talent but is..well... odd. He looks as if he's trying now though rather than going through the motions, which is the only reason I'd give him a chance. I'd just hold fire on sacking him for a few more weeks.

I am with Ted, Jo looks more likely to help us the RSC, and it really looks like Mancini has faith in him. We may be stuck with him until January.

You've missed my entire point!
WE DONT NEED TO GET RID OF PLAYERS PERMANENTLY!
They are our assets, we can use them to make teams stronger and therefore take points off our rivals!

Example, would you be more confident in Everton taking points of United or Chelsea if they had Ireland in their team?
