Lawro time again.............

Tottenham v Manchester City (1245 BST)

Tottenham find themselves heading into a season different from any other after their victory at Manchester City in the penultimate game of the last campaign helped them to secure fourth spot and a place in the Champions League.
I think they will edge a close game at White Hart Lane and get their season off to a winning start.
City have spent big again this summer but it will take some time before boss Roberto Mancini has worked out his best team.
There is also the potential for problems in the dressing room because he has so many players who will expect to play regular first-team football.
A few years ago you could start slowly but still go on to win the league. I don't think that is the case any longer. You have to start with a bang and that could be a potential problem for City.
Prediction: 2-1

Well nothing new here, please go ahead and have your say.................

Lawro is a twat but to be fair 2-1 pred for spurs isn't too far fetched.

It won't be for any of the reasons he's talking about ... but to be fair lots of teams could go to whl and lose 2-1.

personally I think we have the fire in us to beat them and in the other thread I predicted 2-0, I stand by that.

I think it will be a great game

Bloody hell, no wonder you aussies are so crap at soccer, if you haven't had the benefit of seeing me play for the mighty 'Pool in the best team that ever was, and since my retirement all my pertinent and relevant observations on how the game should be played, it's not surprising. I can't see City competing with the likes of the mighty Anfield reds, and my bum chum Sir Alex's home grown team, or even dodgy Harry's lot. Money doesn't buy success.

I thin kthat's quite a fair prediction from neutrals point of view. I can see this being tough tie for us and really, I'd be delighted with a point.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Anyone catch my fellow countryman Andy Gray on SSN yesterday? Man-for-man we will have the best 25 player squad, and will clearly threaten #1. Sounds like a reasonable guy. Ha!

Disagree that it's a must to start with a bang or any chance has gone. The top end of the league is getting closer together, last seasons winning pts total was below average and it wouldn't surprise me if it takes a point or two less than that to win the league this season.

Quite right, it is an idiotic statement. If there are 2 games most likely to lose it is this one and OT away. If we only lose those 2 we've cracked it.

Unfortunately though, defeat would provoke a hysterical media over-reaction.

Don Manc could be out the coming tuesday if not things work well. Don is used to that top teams get benefits. This time he's in with the most loveble club on earth though hated in resent years of a reason that only coluld be spelled in a few words.
1. Don't disturb our big 4.
2. U**ted is the club from M.
3. Liverpool have been the flagship of English football eventhough the've been shit for decades, ecxept that 2005 triumph.
4. London is England, England is London, BUT for the two rural teams.
CTID!! and beoynd.
