Oh Rodney Rodney was my first, even though it didn't work out. Then Tricky trev cos he was the best striker in the country by far at the time. As someone mentioned earlier, his debut in our opening game of the season away at Stoke was an explosive debut to say the least. Hopefully, one of our new guys will take the mantle and be the complete dogs nadgers:o)

The Man In Blue wrote:i don't know why but Rolando Bianchi. we have been so fucking woeful the season before in front of goal i would have looked upon any new striker as some kind of goalscoring messiah. scans on youtube only served to increase this feeling, and when he got on the end of that nedum cross at the boleyn ground i was positively ecstatic.

doesn't always work out the way you think it's going to though eh? ah well...

That whole summer was electric, new owner, exciting manager and a flurry of names. I thought we were going to be world beaters. Hopefully this will be our season. I want Mancini to silence his critics. As a City supporter Ive always had a chip on my shoulder, I will never forget the Ball year and the whole office singing "Were going down to play Ipswich Town, with the City. Citeh." Then Frank Clark and getting my hopes up again with Keegan. Its all been false dawns.

Id be happy with any bit of silverware. Shutting those fuckers up would be priceless.

Samaras ffs.

Though.. theres something about Balotelli that really excites me. I think its because hes really what we need. A Young arrogant hungry striker that can piss off every other team. Plus hes a rebel.. like me!

Robinho hands down.
"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare. And this smiling Arabic assassin is intent on stealing all the treasures they've nicked off everyone else, and pulverising them into commercial and footballing oblivion as he does so."

Elano for me. I'd heard quite a bit about Ela, Robbie and Renato at Santos before he'd moved to Shakhtar. Plus we signed Bojinov, Corluka and Garrido that same day.

The whole Robinho/Berbatwat thing was hard to top though.

Anelka for me, definitely. We'd been through hell for years, getting by with mostly awful players and the relegations that went with them. Then all of a sudden, we're signing this guy that was, I thought anyway, world class. Remember seeing him torture everyone for Arsenal while we were down in Division 2 and thinking, wow, what must it be like to have a player like him...and then we got him. Questionable attitude at times but he was the best all round striker at the club for years, look at his goalscoring record. He's lost a bit of pace in the last couple of years but was right in his prime at City. God only knows what he could've done with better players around him.

Also, the day we signed Elano, Corluka, Bojinov and Garrido in one afternoon was the stuff of dreams at the time. Big name manager spending money- seemed a million miles from Pearce, Beanie and Corradi. First day of that season, seeing Elano and Petrov's interchanging and skill, it was the best feeling in the world and I'd never been as excited about a season as then. Didn't end too well did it, but we've done alright for ourselves since.

Definitely Robinho, I was giddy watching City for like two months after, laughing every time I saw him run out.

This is weird but Mark Kennedy. After sinking really low and everything being gloomy for few years, we were paying actual money for quality and talented player (for where we were back then). And really, we started new millenium by steady growth towards where we are now.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Trevor Francis.

Going further back, I recall being particularly pleased to have the opportunity to watch Kaziu Deyna in the flesh after seeing him in the World Cup. Poland used to be really good.

Funnily for me it was when we re signed SWP it was the happiest day ive ever been in my life as a city fan, i remember it vividly, there were personal things that were great that day so it was probably a bit of everything and he was very much the icing on my big cake, obv robinho was another great one but SWP for me.

The saddest is a toss up between the day we sold SWP and the day we sold dunne(with regards players, obv relegations and countless last min losses in derby are worse).
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Robbie Fowler, I truly thought he could get back to his best
2. Nic Anelka, still one of the best players we have ever had
3. Robinho, just because of how it happened. We probably all knew deep down how it would turn out tho
4. Tevez
5. Balotelli - purely because I havent got a fucking clue what will happen. He could be amazing, he could be utter gash.

Like a few of the others when we got Weah I was over the moon and for some strange reason when we got Mcmanananananananaman I got really excited.I thought him and Robbie would be a dream combo for us.
