Press Watch idea

Press Watch idea

Postby brite blu sky » Fri Aug 20, 2010 6:55 pm

More than a few times recently posters have proposed the idea that we should record the links to all the bullsh*t press we are getting and clearly will get this season. It seems an interesting idea, if for nothing else that it records what could be a unique and massive year of biased and bullsh*t press for posterity (that may never happen again). I have to admit i like the idea, apart from anything else the fun reading the sh*t later.

There is though a lingering doubt in my mind as to what would be the point of it apart from the fun ? If we had a way of throwing it back at them eventually that would make it worth the while.. but how can any of us seriously do that ?

The press has an ad-hoc campaign to fucxl City at every opportunity.. but as fans how could we seriously start a campaign to embarrass these tw@ts and hit back ?

anyone got any ideas, cos they deserve it.

Not being funny mate, but that's the kind of thing Liverpool fans do.

Just let the press get on with it. We'll be able to laugh at them when we start winning pots. Getting all uppity with an unwarranted sense of self importance will do nothing but backfire on us and leave us all looking like cunts.

I think we should simply compile a comprehensive blacklist of haters from the press and visual media. From then on, if the article/person is talking us down, we should know NOT to post anything from that person as it is not worth debating or wasting bandwidth on the forum.

Oh, then hound the fuckers to death when we win something.

Here's an article in The Mail based around a perfectly reasonable quote by Ferguson:

Sir Alex Ferguson goes head to head with Mark Hughes on Sunday claiming the new Fulham boss has no need to justify his work at Manchester City.
Last time the pair met was last September, when Ferguson came out on top in an epic Manchester derby at Old Trafford when Michael Owen scored the winner six minutes into stoppage time.
By the end of the year, Hughes had been dumped as Blues chief, owner Sheikh Mansour not convinced the Welshman was capable of delivering a 70-point target set in pre-season.
But Ferguson does not believe that decision is any reflection on his former player.
'Mark does not need to justify his performance at Manchester City,' said Ferguson. 'He did a good job there.
The employer who hired him had left. It is a fact of life that new employers want their own man.'

The articles title?

Sir Alex Ferguson sticks boot into Roberto Mancini's Manchester City by praising Mark Hughes's spell as boss

Well the man who brought you the 'FA Watch' idea thinks it could be a cracking wheeze. Just for fun like, as you say.

You could set up a site, maybe called http://www.uktabloidbollox.com or something similar and have sections for each paper and each writer of interest and cut and paste the bollox and bile into there. Keep it for posterity, and for a laugh.

Or, if you've got a few shillings to spare you could 'journo sit' and say set up a site called http://www.shauncustis.com or something similar (and different ones for different journos) where you cut and paste the hysterical rantings of said journo and invite irate and abusive comments from members of the public. The more abusive and personal the better!

But it's a lot of work involved, for sure!

EDIT: Taking it one stage further, set up a website in our most hated journo's name and post up spoof articles in his name that are even more ridiculous that what he normally writes. A toughie, I know, but this could really be a laugh. Until the solicitor's letters arrive anyway.

You must have some serious time on your hands. Are you volunteering your services?

But we had some fun whilst it lasted! Which was the original point of the idea, not to change the world.

And no, I'm not volunteering, merely offering suggestions in support of the original OP's great idea.
