Long Article on Inter's finances - interesting

Postby Lev Bronstein » Wed Aug 25, 2010 7:40 am

Some of the analysis seems relevant to us regarding Financial Fair Play. Could be that Inter are going to fall foul of the new regs as much, if not more than us.

It does go on a bit, but, worth sticking with to the end.

I think I've done that right.

One of the comments below the article suggests that only Barca and Real would get into Euro competitions from Spain, and as for Russian clubs, who knows??

Well both Real and Barca spend more than they earn, and as we now know Barca are in dire straits financially.

Seems to me no-one will qualify from the big clubs in Spain, Italy or England, so either the CL will be competed for by a Macedonian and a Bosnian team, or the rules will be scrapped or ignored.

At the end of the day UEFA - an arbitrary committee - decides who gets a licence or not, whatever the rules.

What a cracking article, also read the Arsenal one, very in depth and well researched. It shows that all European teams who want to play CL football under the new rules are going to have to cut their cloth accordingly.

Are we going to generate enough revenue to come within £25m of our outgoings? This could be difficult even with CL football and associated revenues. Liverpool made £20m after getting knocked out of the group stages, we will need a lot more than that in the coming years.

20 players on an average of 50k pw before tax would be £50M per year without any other expenses. When you consider that the average is more like £80k pw & I recon some of the players are on £100k pw + AFTER TAX, IMO we haven't got a cat in hell's chance of even coming close to breaking even without finding a loophole or 2 re sponsorship or alternatively taking them to court.

The fact that we've just added hugely to the wage bill without a care in the world suggests we have a plan & aren't worried about it.

Just had another read on the same site, swiss rambler seems to think we have a cunning plan.
