So monday was my chance to lose my city virginity in style... and i did lose it... but not without a few complications.
at first we were meant to take the car to the stadium but at 6 30, the car broke down and we were left stranded in heaton fucking mersey. the weather was miserable, everyone was fasting, so just picture 5 starving and grumpy arabs standing in the rain.
eventually we decided to get a train from stockport to piccadilly and then walk it to the stadium (tricky if you've never been before). we arrived at piccadilly at 745 and had 15 mins to navigate ourselves to the stadium and find our seats!
it took us about 20 minutes to get to the stadium, and we asked the friendly stewards for some help and got in the stadium. that moment when you first walk up those steps and see the stadium for the first time is incredible! goosebumps all over! just that experience alone is worth the 50 quid.
ive not been to many matches but the COMS is one handsome looking fucker... everything is just shiny, the pitch looks so good that my american cousin was convinced that it was actually "turf" and not real grass.
so by now its about 10 mins into the match, and wev still not found our seats... and we didnt have a clue what our seat numbers were only that it was in block 326. we asked a steward and he asked for our tickets, but all we had was the city accesscards cos we were never actually sent tickets only a letter saying welcome to manchester city with the cards attached. this meant the steward had to go find out where we were sitting which took another 10 mins, and then another 10 mins trying to find the bloody seats cos he kept going in the wrong entrance!
eventually we made it to our seats.. row EE, top of the stadium, with a pair of liverpool supporting cunts sat behind us.
oh and this was around the 30 minutes mark so i'd already seen my first goal at the stadium without realising it!
the atmosphere i would say is great... not amazing, its more of an atmosphere you get when your at the trafford centre.. its wierd to describe. it's like, the stadium is amazing, the football played was amazing, the view was amazing, the fans are amazing, but something seems to be missing from the atmosphere.
nevertheless it's still a fantastically addictive experience and now i'm proper hooked on and wanting to get onto the next match!!
the moment of the match was definitely Hart's save... what a phenomenal stop! i think that save made the crowd jump more than the actual goals! fantastic keeper.
funniest moments of the match was whenever one of the liverpool players would get tackled or lose the ball and the two nobs behind us would scream at them in a bizarrely high pitched voice. haha.
in the end, it was a great day and a fantastic experience even taking into account the crappy weather, the car breaking down and the fact we didnt get to our seats til the 30 minute mark. the boys played ok and yet we still ripped liverpool apart and never looked in danger of dropping any points. it really does feel like its going to be a special season, im just going to try and enjoy every game as they come.
oh and one last point, i couldn't help but notice how nice the people are! everyone there, from the fans to the stewards are exceptionally nice, happy and genuinely there for a good time.
also, my brother bumped into Paul LeGuen in the toilets so i wonder who he was there to watch.
fantastic day.
9/10
cheers :)
