How much will we improve..

How much will we improve..

What with all the hype and anti-City b*ll*x from pre-season onwards it has been easy to get caught up in things and not reflect on quite where we are. Looking at who may start against the piemunchers and who is out injured made me once again think of what a top squad we have.

There has been quiet a lot of misgivings about due to the last two league games, but even those disappointments haven't dented most peoples view that we are there-abouts and just need a bit of time.

The Salzburg game was one of the most professional City performances we may have seen and tbh looked very unCity like. That was massively encouraging given we lined up with a different formation and players. Im starting to think that the players are starting to settle in and a lot of them are finally getting up to speed.

Game on game Tevez has looked sharper and is no longer looking off the pace, Barry was also tearing about and looking pretty sharp. This has got me to feeling that the post WC/holiday jet lag cobweb thing is finally working its way out of the system and obviously depending on player availability we are as a squad there-abouts up to speed.

There are people who dont reason like this and just expect footballers to be machines and that is unrealistic. I would say that given the circumstances of WC, Internationals, new players, injuries etc we haven't as yet seen anything like what we are capable of.. and yet we have still dominated teams while being way off our best.

So i suppose what we have at the moment is a kind of base level.. what we might expect of City on a bad hair day. The work rate is there and the attitude is there.

That leaves a lot of room for imagining what we are going to become as we continue to get sharper, more understanding between players and the return of the injured.

If what we have seen so far has basically for whatever reasons been poor.. and i think it has, then as we improve generally and also get players like Boateng on the right and Kolarov back on the left, the formation Bobby seems to want to apply is really going to take off. If and when we see most of the best players we have on the pitch together and the basic interplay of the team is as good or better than what we have seen already then we can start to hit the heights of what this bunch of players under Bobby can do.

As you say, we have the players, who now seem to have blown the cobwebs off; it's just the tactics that need to be sorted for me.

Good post that mate, i don't think we are gonna see the best out of this team untill mid October. But saying that even though this team has'nt hit the hights we would like, we have played some good football and if we had put the chances away that we have had we would of comfortabley of beated the teams we have faced so far.

i do feel like we wont see anything much worse, even on a bad hair day.. and that really is something.
The Everton game is going to be interesting for obvious reasons. But also the Derby is in Nov and as you say we should by that time be up to our best.. which makes contemplating that first Derby all the more interesting...

evil laugh..

I think we aren't far off, and moving in the right direction. Right about Tevez, once Silva gets fully match fit we could well see fantastic combining play and plenty of goals between them. Central defence look solid at the minute and Boatang and Kolorov yet to return makes for a delightful back four.

I do think a lot of expectation on us winning everything though feel the Europa, fa cup or CC are well within our reach or at least one will be sitting in how cob web filled trophey cabinet this year.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

While it was expected that the players would be raising their game for Chelsea, i didnt see much different from the way we played Liverpool apart form Chelsea obviously being a hell of a lot better.

What i am sure we have all seen since pre-season and the opening games is significant and steady improvement in the fitness and all round play of Barry, Tevez, deJong, Kolo and Silva.

We look very solid and although i hope that no-one starts a thread on it, we should note that the result yesterday puts us right back in the mix for top slot. The only thing i am saying here is that we are not out of it as some on here had suggested after the draw with Blackburn.

The key now is to build on the improvement so far this season by learning how to nail teams like Newcastle, WBA, Stoke and Everton.

We need Adebayor on fire. It was reported that he was practically unplayable in training before the Chelsea game.. so i can only imagine that was an attempt by him to get into the starting 11. I am glad in a way that he didn't, because what we need form Ade is that he fights like that in training to get into the 11 every week.. then Mancini can be sure he is going to put a shift in on the pitch. What he can do is not in question.. and it is time to show that he wants to do it, not for the Derby or Arsenal, but for every fuclin game.
If he doesn't put the effort in in training this week then if i were Bobby i would leave him on the bench or not even select him for Juve. he has a window of opportunity before Balotelli returns. The way things are going.. City will be unbelievable with Silva, Tevez, AJ, Balotelli and Adebayor on fire.

Adebayor's appearance now with some fire in his belly would be the piece of the jigsaw that would improve us to another level, it is the bit we are missing.. and while we are all waiting for the return of Super Mario, we have a player right now who is capable of providing the same thing.

Get your dancing shoes on Ade and get into the team and start playing football before it is too late.
