The 22-year-old midfielder has suffered a nightmare run of injury problems which have seen him appear just twice, both as a substitute, since picking up an abdominal injury in September 2008.

Roberto Mancini has shown faith in the Academy product, including him in his 25-man Premier League squad.

And in the summer, the Urmston-born England Under-21 international was said to be just two weeks behind the rest of the squad.

Having suffered hamstring trouble and a double hernia operation before developing the abdominal trouble, Johnson finally got himself fit at a similar stage of last season.

City fans gave him a rousing reception when he came on as a sub in a 3-1 win over West Ham, and the following month he scored a spectacular goal after another substitute appearance in the Carling Cup against Scunthorpe.

One question for me, is he ever going to play top class fottball for us?

If not get rid.
Last December he wrecked cruciate ligaments in his knee during training, bringing his season to a premature end.

There were doubts about his future after such a catalogue of problems, but Johnson’s attitude over the summer and during the pre-season tour of the USA impressed Mancini.

But Johnson had yet ANOTHER setback a fortnight ago when he injured a toe, and now faces a few weeks until he can get match fit.

Now City are considering giving him a run-out in reserve matches to top up his fitness

I'm not sure about fottball but I reckon if he gets fit then he'll get his chance to play top class football.
