Quite interesting how the balance on here has changed. About a month ago myself and others pointed out that he was weak, to say the least. Then there was lots of 'he hasn't had a game, I luv Shaunie' etc.

Mercifully most people can now see what is in front of their eyes.

I have been saying this for a long time, SWP is now bordering on useless. He never beats a man, he can't cross, he doesn't even work hard these days. Pretty much a waste of space. Get rid in Jan preferably.

I haven't seen SWP go to take a player on since before he went to Chelsea. That is what his game was about in my opinion, he was never blessed with unbelievable pace like a Walcott or Lennon. The ball used to be literally stuck to his foot! And you could throw a brick at him and he'll still get up and carry on running.

You can't say he's not had his moments since he's been back though. The goals on his first match back against Sunderland. His stunner against Arsenal and his goal in the Uefa Cup (I forget who it was against). Unfortunately they’ve been few and far between to warrant a 100k a week contract. Which is a shame really, because I've grown up seeing Shaun dribbling his way through about 5 players and always giving 100% in a City shirt.

Imo it's because he doesn't try as hard that he doesn't succeed in beating a man or being any use. He used to fight like fuck to get past his man even when it looked impossible, then fight like fuck to get the ball back if it went wrong. Now he just tries a casual flick of the ball & often dives if it doesn't work. Then he jogs back rather than sprinting like he used to. He's taking up the place of a player who could be competing with Johnson, Silva, Milner etc & is unbalancing the squad along with people like Jo & Bridge.

There's more to be said for this than most people would think, I reckon. Having some gobshite talking about your career on TalkSHITE radio is one thing. People expect it and think 'maybe there's something in it/maybe not'. When it's your dad, people tend to believe it. Then the poor little fucker has to go out and prove he's worth the contract that his dad says he's worth and he's up against new England darling, Adam Johnson. SWP was always a confidence player. Being benched at Chelsea on arrival almost ruined his career. His rebirth at City showed that he still has it.

Personally, I think that he has the skill to play a major part in our squad. Sadly, I think he lacks the mental strength.

IMO Shaun reminds me of where Stevie Ireland was at this time last year.
Not a regular so when picked puts it in for 20 mins then goes missing.
Doesn't slag the club off in public but gives others encouragement to do so.
Will soak up the top dollar for as long as poss then bitch like mad when he goes.

Wouldn't be at all surprised mate.
According to DH's excellent training reports SWP is an enthusiastic trainer who enjoys a laugh and a joke with the rest of the squad.
I would imagine that he gets a lot of comments in unguarded moments.
I could be wrong of course, he may be the soul of discretion.

Exactly. You can imagine what happens straight after the game can't ya. Wrighty phones Shaun up to give him a pick-me-up for not making the team then jumps into the 'So What's going On In The Background Son?'. Shaun, on a downer, then lets slip that there's a few unhappy players (mainly him) and there's been a few words said. Wrighty then hangs up and qickly diverts his attention to phoning Stan Collymore and a few other prize prats to ensure the message is out.

It could be like that but we don't know. Judging by the amount of rumours that used to get spread by Ireland's cronies on Bluemoon, the mates of these players sometimes take what they say as gospel when half the time it's bullshit depending on the player's mood or lack of braincells.
