Alan wishes us all a merry christmas!

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Alan wishes us all a merry christmas!

Read below, this is actually taken from the OS (Mark blue army style). Cracked me up.

Salzburg striker Alan Douglas Borges de Carvalho became one of the most unlikely City ‘heroes’ in 2010.
The 21-year-old Brazilian striker could not have known what was about to happen as he warmed up to make his second half entrance into the Europa League tie at the City of Manchester Stadium earlier this month.

After his five-part name was eventually just shortened to ‘Alan’ by the ground announcer he became an instant cult figure.

The songs began almost immediately with chants of ‘Alan is Superman!’ and ‘Alan for England’. By the end of the game won by City on the way to topping the group, the Alan songs were outnumbering those for the Blues with the supporters urging him to cap a memorable night with a goal.

In the aftermath of the match Manchester went Alan crazy.

Within half an hour of posting a story on the club’s official website, more than 2,000 fans ‘liked’ the story. Forums were awash with Alan talk and his name was seemingly on the lips of everyone who attended the Group A contest. There was even ‘snow graffiti’ in his honour.

It must have been bemusing for the player who joined the Austrian side from Fluminese in 2010, but he acknowledged the support from the stands towards the end of the game and has now sent a Christmas message to his new legion of admirers.

“I would like to wish Manchester City the best of luck in the Europa League and the Premier League for the rest of the season,” he told us in an exclusive interview.

“I did not understand why but I knew during the match that the City fans were screaming my name. I got a little confused because I didn’t know the reason. But I was happy to be recognised by fans as one of Man City.

“I am a very positive person, a happy man, who loves to laugh. I like to be with my family and my friends and playing football is my life. So I was happy to hear the songs. It would be a pleasure to come back to England, visit the club and meet the supporters.

“During the game I was pretty focused but after the game I´ve realised the manifestations of the City supporters and I liked it. This is not very common to me but I’ve really enjoyed it

“I’d like to thank them for all their support and love and wish you all good luck and Merry Christmas!”

Holy shit, within 5 mins of posting this I watched the 35th advent calendar. It is the man, the legend, ALAN.

Fucking hell city's sense of humour seems to have travelled upwards recently.
Tracking back is overrated.

Proof positive that whatever else has happened at the club...our sense of humour remains intact.
