James Milner

Hats off to the lad today. Put in a real shift against a very physical side and really got stuck in. Provided good cover defending and a cracker of a ball for Tevez's first goal.

Yeh good performance today, probably his best since his debut. He does work hard and superb ball for Tevez's goal.
The one thing about Milner though which will never make him a great player for me is his lack of pace. A few times today he was played through but just did not have the speed to get clear of the Newcastle defense.
Maybe if he plays more centrally this would not be so much of an issue.

I was non-plus about James today, well played Mancio.

Put in a hard-working shift today as was knackered which is why i was expecting him to come off for Johnson instead of Silva, it unbalanced the team and we conceded straight after.

Great effort & possible MOTM. Often shite in pure football terms though. Great cross for Tevez' goal tbf. One day will learn to be on the same wavelength as Silva & be a midfield powerhouse for City.

Technically poor? He's really good technically. His crossing, positioning etc are top class. What let's him down is a lack of pace.

Was really surprised by Milner, hung with his man tough, got back on the defense quickly, and provided some great assists.
Hopefully he'll continue in this manner.

He's been poor in recent games, I can't remember a good performance since Liverpool(Home). He had a decent game, and it's a step up no doubt.

what does he give us that SWP doesnt though? SWP would give us the same amount of hard work and end product too occaisionally more than milner imo. If swp had a run in the team as long as milner he would be more effective for us.

Needs to learn to stand up. Spent most of the game being put on his arse. It was like watching Heskey. Great ball for the second though.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

would prefer him to be used in a more central role - he's not suited to the wings

Agree but I think it'll be at least a year before he becomes 1st choice in that position.

Our own 7/10 man. I was concerned whenever he started we seemed to struggle moving forward smoothly and quickly, but he started, we won. Glad it's not turned into a hoodoo.

Ade would score as many as Balotelli as well, minus the theatrics and referee hate.

Theres a common theme there. As much as Bob has turned it round, he still obviously plays favourites, I hope he knocks this on the head as more of the squad become "his players"

Thought he played really well for us yesterday, lets hope he can keep putting in that kind of performance every game from now on.

SWP wouldn't have put that ball in for Tevez like Milner did yesterday though tbf. Still think he's wasted on the wing but did nothing in the Everton game to say he should have a regular run in the middle.
