Watching City in Boston?

Postby BobbyJ1956 » Wed Dec 29, 2010 12:43 pm

Anyone know of gathering places for City supporters in Boston (Massachusetts, not Lincolnshire), please? Going to be there over New Year. I'm after finding a bar to see the Blackpool game, if I'm allowed out/wake up in time. Beacon Hill area or anywhere downtown close to the red (sorry) line. Ta.

Its not on in Cheers mate. I couldnt find any bars with the footy on when I was there, it was all about the Red Sox and the Pats.

The game vs Blackpool is on FoxSoccer channel at 10am local time.

I just googled and got this.

Also the game Vs Arsenal will be on ESPN2 so that game you could watch from your hotel because about 99% of all hotels have ESPN2. If your still in Boston at that time.

It shouldn't be too hard for you to find a place to watch the match. There are a bunch of pubs around Boston that have Fox Soccer channel. The two that I frequent are:

1. Phoenix Landing - Central Square in Cambridge on the red line so easy access. Prob. most famous footie pub in Boston but also the official Liverpool fan club headquarters. Liverpool is playing at the same time as us, and they may show our match on 1 of the screens but it will be packed.

2. Banshee - in Dorchester on the red line. This is another footie pub but with no particular allegiance to a team. I heard the breakfast is better here and it will definitely be an easier experience to watch City here than at the Phoenix Landing.

3. Others in the area include = Kinsale (Boston near to City hall, close to Beacon Hill opens at 10 AM and has Fox Soccer) & The Druid (Cambridge/Inman Square great breakfast and Fox Soccer). Pretty much any Irish themed pub will have FoxSoccer so if none of the above places are accessible then call around.

Good luck!

Thanks very much. I'll get myself to one of the downtown pubs and hope the missus ("but you already saw them play this week") doesn't get too pissed off. Wait till I bring up my anticipated three days in Dublin.

There is also McGanns on Friend St opposite North Station. A neutral pub and easily accessible, decent breakfast and the bartender is quite easy on the eye. I would meet you for a pint if I was over there but am currently in the UK for Xmas and New Year.

Although as Celtics says there is the Phoenix Landing in Central Sq, the red line stop is basically 50 yds from the front door.
