Toughing it out at the Emirates...

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Toughing it out at the Emirates...

Postby brite blu sky » Tue Jan 04, 2011 12:19 pm

Ok what with is at stake in this game it has to be one of the biggest games of the season so far. A lot of must win talk from both sides. The Gooners are confident having beaten Chelsea, but truth be told Chelsea are poor at the moment. The only other game worth judging them by they got beat by Spurs. So my own view is that they haven't had a serious test. The same could be said of City though away from home.. so it is going to be interesting. I can easily imagine another 0-0 with both teams not wanting to lose, so any goal breakthoughs will change the game completely.

Last year Arsenal were a bit under strength.. but then this was the City team that drew 0-0
Given (Nielsen 72), Bridge (Richards 26), Zabaleta, Johnson, Barry, Vieira (Adebayor 52), Toure (c), Tevez, Kompany, De Jong, Bellamy
Unused subs:
Onuoha, Ireland, Wright-Phillips, Santa Cruz

I'm not totally convinced by Bob's statement that Balotelli is out, but either way i can see us being set up like we were v the rags to stifle and stop their play and hope to nick it. A packed midfield with deJong, Barry, Yaya, Milner and AJ, with Tevez on his tod.

One saving grace for City is that the first choice defence is available.

Unless we can regularly hit Arsenal on the break & give them something to worry about, they'll beat us easily 9 times out of 10 imo. They could miss their chances & have a ref who doesn't fall for their diving around the box I suppose, but otherwise, even if they don't get a lead from open play, if we let them press us all the time; they'll line up loads of free kicks by chucking themselves over.

We have to really scare them when we attack & that puts them off their game as they're shithouses.

They're a great passing side but they're built on wet shite & have no balls whatsoever. We need to exploit that.

Without Dave, and Mario, it's going to be a very difficult game for us with Yaya most probably backing-up Carlos when he can. If we play with the likes of Milner, Barry, dJ and Yaya I can see us coming under severe pressure with the midfield collapsing into the defence, and with the quality passing that Arsenal have got, we''ll eventually succumb to their sustained pressure. There will be no way our strong but slow midfield will win the battle against their quick an agile attack force.

Not feeling good about this one and am hoping Carlos can pull out a little bit of magic early on against their somwhat iffy defence. They'll come all guns blazing but I can see us getting more on the break.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".

A draw would be an outstanding result, but having said that I really hope we dont go there and park the bus though Silva's absence does raise a concern.

With Tevez up top, and what is likely to be Milner, Ya Ya and AJ behind him we do have players who can hurt them so I would hope we aim to get at them when we can as well. Going to the Emirates and sitting back will bring defeat, but a little ambition and we can get a positive result. Lets hope so.

What's the grapevine saying about Ade starting this one then?

And is it on the telly box?

The game was the only thing that put a slight dampener on the day of this fixture last year, with joint birthdays for my sister and Dazby meaning London town was hit with gusto, despite us having to do Spurs to get the grail and failing to capitalise (no pun intended) on a potential win.

Also met Wooders and Spiv down there, plus hordes of drunken others. Good times.

grapevine is saying that Ade is already on-route to Spain to sign for Malaga. If true then imo means the big J has signed and Ade wont be playing against the Gooners.

Cheers all.

It's things like that that make this forum worth logging onto. I could have forced my brain to perform the apparently simple processes required to look all that stuff up. Most of it's on here already no doubt.

By not wasting that time I feel you've somehow extended my lifespan, if only by a few seconds.

Although daz, club inferno probably took years off all of us. Surely the only club ever named after the insurance job that's not yet happened to it. A fitting end surely. Oh the humanity.....

I'll be at the Emirates (in amongst the home fans unfortunately) and was looking forward to seeing AJ, Silva and Tevez teach Wenger a football lesson but sadly the little Spanish genius is out.

Really think we can get a result but then again, I wouldn't be surprised to get done two or three nil.

Truth be told a loss tomorrow would be nothing in comparison to the fucl up against Everton. And a win would only go some way to restoring where we should have been had we not fucled up.

Apart from the "beat us easily 9 times out of 10 imo" you talk a lot of sense.

My biggest worry about them is down to them being the sneakiest, slyest, whiningest, cheatingest crew in the Premier League; chief among them being obnoxious 'teacher's pet' Fabregas, and the Dutch thug with the face of a choir boy, Van Persie
