well i for one will be voicing my criticism of last night's performance. a team that has had so much money invested in it to play for a 0-0 against anyone anywhere is the wrong attitude. you would never see man utd, chelsea or arsenal do it and you all know it.

I went fucking mad when we did it at Arsenal last year because it was vital for us to get 3 points. 1 point in the end was as much use as 0 points as the win would have made the spuds game irrelevant.

I fail to see the problem in drawing away from home with one of the hottest teams of the moment. Our strength is our defence, why not play to that strength. A defeat could have potentially left us 4 behind Arsenal, as it stand we are potentially 1 behind the,

I really don't see what people's beef is - end of the season when we need the points fair enough you would have to throw caution to the wind (with fit strikers maybe), but I don't see the sense in needlessly attacking our closest rivals for 3 points we don't desperately need when there is more than a third of the season left.

Im well happy with a point.

You dont have to beat the old sky 4 to win the league, let alone finish in the top 4.

Only Arse from the top 4 have beaten us this season, we picked up wins against Chel, scouse, and a point against scum. All in all im happy that we are doing well against the traditional big 4.

Im shitting it for the Spurs at home game though, total bogey team. Id also love us to play Scouse in the next few weeks because we would do them over at the moment

I think the argument is flawed. It's wrong to assume that because the result was 0-0, city set out to achieve it. Since we're not privy to the teams plan, I would suggest that we were looking to contain them, but also try the counter attack. However, arsenal did play very well.

Mourinho was proclaimed a genius for doing that at the Nou Camp.

I've never seen a better organised City team.

Having been at the match I witnessed first hand what is in my opinion a great point against a fantastic side.

If anyone cares I've written a piece on it here -

We haven't beaten Arsenal on their own patch for donkeys years and i dont know how long it is but i remember standing in the away end when we beat them 3-2 back in the days of Rodney Marsh and it was a good feeling, that may or may not be the last time we beat them away i dont know but last night we set our stall out for a draw and we achieved it and every single City fan that was in the Drayton arms after the game was absolutely delighted to a man, woman and child. Anybody who is unhappy about last nights events i suggest you didn't go and you have no idea how good it feels to go to a bogey teams ground and come away with a point.
I have been to Highbury every year since that win and seen us take some serious beatings because we played an open game against them but last night we didn't have the fire power up front to take them on so we took what we could get which was one point. After the game you may have heard boring boring City on MOTD but rest assured that it was us that was singing that because the Arsenal fans were too busy booing their own team because they couldn't break us down.
If we win the league this year by one point then i will look back on last nights result with a big smile.

I would argue that united did it against us at eastlands earlier this season. They were not ambitious at all, ande were more scared of losing than we were.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Exactly, they will look at that as a point gained rather than two points lost.

Nice one, it's funny but I half suspected as much watching it on the telly.

Piccs,
Put the claws away Mate. I understand that you're not Mancini's biggest fan but there were so many positives to take from that performance last night.
In the short term, the only winners last night were the rags who gained from both of their nearest rivals dropping 2 pts. In the longer term, it proved beyond doubt that we can be multi dimensional. When faced with poor opposition, we can get into them and batter them. When put under pressure, we can hold the line and keep our heads. To win trophies, both qualities are needed. We have them.

Putting last night's game into perspective, judging by the after match reactions, it seems it was a far bigger game for Arsenal to win than for us. It was their home game, they would have scheduled that game as three points and it was their chance to overtake us into 2nd spot and put us in our place...behind them...they failed. For us, the Emirates has long been a cemetery for City hopes and 1pt is better than we usually achieve. We could reasonably have expected to drop 3pts. In the event, we didn't.

I know you see Mancini as a negative stylee coach but I see him as a more complete coach, able to coach his team to attack and defend. I don't think he set out to draw, I think the tools available and the flow of the game dictated that Arsenal went for a kill with us as victims. The ability to defend and survive such an onslaught, is a quality I wish a few city teams of the past had had.

The ability to doggedly defend when necessary and to take advantage of opponent's mistakes is a genuine one and one which we are developing successfully. With only one able striker and no creative Silva. our options were severely restricted. Bringing AJ on against tired legs was proof that Mancini wanted to win. Given Silva and Dzeko (as opposed to Jo) supporting Tevez, I think that he may have had more tools and options available.

Last night was proof that we are not yet complete....but against the best of opposition, we're not that far away.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT
