Gai Assulin.

Our trip to Leicester surely has to be the ideal time to hand a debut to the lad.

Would be great to see him play and with Silva out injured surely wouldn't hurt to have a little tricky player like gai in the side.

Also would give Bobby a chance to really see if he can handle himself in physical rigours of English football.

What do ya reckon, is it time to unleash the gai?

Likewise. The club's been very low-key on this signing, which gives me the feeling we may not see him play for a long, long time, if ever.

He will have to fight his way past Jo for a starting spot.

FFS Doug. Talk about pissing on his chips. No chance. Jo's physical presence, his surging pace, his determination to get to the ball first, his intelligent runs. The complete player. What are we wasting £27 million for on an unknown Bosnian with no premiership experience. Sometimes I worry about you Bobby.

Absolutely spot on.

But seriously I would have thought he might play a reserve game first. Maybe he will play in the next one alongside Michael Johnson.

Well apparently Sven phoned Bobby, and Bobby told him he was not bringing reserves, but the first team as he intended to win. So if everyone is telling the truth in that story then he aint gonna get a run out!

I can handle a Carling Cup washout, but I seriously disagree with anyone using the FA Cup to 'try someone out'. Ridiculous notion.

Considering we gave up on the Carling Cup (which would have been a better experimental competition) we had better not try anything rash in the FA Cup.

That would be quiet interesting. Assulin is schooled in the barca pass and move style and although he has been out like MJ for a long time he has a lot of class. The two of them should be able to play with some understanding and confidence i would have thought. not sure of Assulin's capacity in the english game though.. from what little i have seen of him he may take a good while to get with it but basically has the ability to run rings round players at the EDS level.

There are more fringe players ahead of him who I think would be worth a proper run out. We will probably see a mixed first team and bench side like some of the European games. I would be happy to have a player like Gai on the bench who could at least bring some attacking flair on if we need it, or be given a run if we're comfortably ahead with an hour gone. Against Blackpool I was nervous with only Jo on the bench and at Arsenal there was only AJ and no striker's, a more balanced bench at the Walkers stadium would be nice.
