Closing the third tear is a no brainer for me. Makes the ground look fuller which importantly is less embarrassing when people see the highlights on the telly. They were giving away t shirts in the family stand yesterday. Gave out about 20. I reckon every kid in that stand went home with at least one t shirt.
Agree. But the club should announce some kind of strategy with regard to this at the start of the season, ie 'unless extreme circumstances change this, the third tier will be closed for League Cup and FA Cup matches up to the quarter-final'. This should make people buy tickets further in advance, so the club can see the predicted attendances. I don't know if there's rules about it, but why can't the club sell seasoncards that also include, say, 3 home cup games for £20 more (with a refund if there aren't that many home games)? It would get some bums on seats.
I believe that when you get a season ticket at u***eds place you have to give your credit card details in and you are automatically billed for every cup game. I am not sure if this is still the case but it certainly was a few years back. I do not believe there is an option to not buy the FA cup tickets which could explain their high attendances in the cup.
