EDS v Liverpool

Not a great game by any stretch but good again to see MJ get through 45 minutes and look pretty good.Against a much tougher opposition than last week he again managed to find space and spread the play around and virtually always keeping possession. He produced the pass of the night to split the Pool defence wide open but unfortunately as Nimley raced onto it he pulled a hamstring and that was that. It was a pass alittle like Silva's for AJ last night right down the middle with Nimley cutting across from the left.

Fitness wise no doubt a distance to go as it was only 45 minutes again but I thought he was good. And Mancini was there to see him as well The fact that his son Andreas was also playing might have been part of the reason he was there. I think I can safely say Andreas won't be appearing in the first team. He has a decent touch and whips a good dead ball in but his fitness is a little more like me than it should be.Largely anonymous.

Hard to find a star player tonight. The Pool goal came after tom Smith at right back slipped . We had chances although it seemed we really struggled to create real openings. Nimley missed 2 chances early on and the second one was a really good one but his touch just took him a little wide and he snatched his shot into the side netting. In the second half Guidetti had a couple of chances too. One he snatched wide a la Nimley but his best was after a knock down by Wabarra and after a good first touch he sliced it wide from about 10 yards. He had very little time as he was under pressure but it was a real chance.

McDermott flickered in and out of the game but apart from one good cross onto Nimley's head ( another early half chance) he didnt quite deliver tonight. Defensively not bad although I was a little worried that Pool were allowed to run at the back 4 a few times in the first half as we backed off.

Just the one goal for the scousers.A minor detail.

Joe Cole played the first half for them as well and looked average.

I think I read somewhere that it would be on on Thursday or something.

As well as Roberto Mancini there tonight Kidd and Lombardo were also watching.

Hard for a young player like Tom Smith to play his first game for months and have his hands full against Tom Ince Pauls Son then get discredited with the "SLIP" for the goal when it was actually Freddi Vesseli'S slip in the same area of the field he gave a goal away the last time i watched The EDS v The Rags...everytime ive seen this player he gives goals cheapily away? seen him at Platt La too.

To be fair our defence were under a fair few waves of daft pressure - there seemed to be a big gap between them and the midfield at times, the mickeys were just turning and bearing down on us in numbers all too often; someone was bound to be forced into an error.

Apart from Johnson unscathed, the highlight of the the night for me was when on of our lads, Tutte I think, was being encouraged to 'push on' by some of his scouse family in the stand. Tutte turned round and in a hilariously scouse accent, considering the oppo, shouted 'shut the fuck up will yer'!

Mancini jnr looks to have a great touch, but seems a long way off being fit enough to compete properly.
