i've lived here for knocking on ten years now mate and i just can't take to em. Most miserable set of fans i've ever come across, I hate the shay since they redeveloped (too big, lacking in any atmosphere, removed the old brilliant snack van) and when they are in the league their crowds are pretty shit for a town of this size.

And they nicked the Speedway track. Shame because it was a super banked jobby which encouraged good racing.

They moved I think, as part of the deal to take the World Final to Odsal in 1985. But in the new Shay, the track has gone which was merely the point I was making. I think zeccy boxes stand on the 3rd and 4th bends of the track at Odsal. Pity because Speedway was popular in West Yorks.

yep - there won't be any racing at bradford or halifax without major stadium redesigns. health & safety/evironmental health means the chances of bringing any new tracks into residential areas are zero anyway. they've both been without racing for too long to get past these issues now. shame.

Whatever happened to the plans to make Odsal a multi sports Superdome?
I think the Dukes got stitched up there.
Having said that Odsal is close to being as fucking freezing as Boundary Park. I've been to meetings on hot June days and still wished I'd been wearing a bobby hat and muffler stood on that terracing over the first and second bends.

The Aces team next year certainly looks impressive. The Dukes were on a hiding to nothing at Odsal for years. The Bulls held all the aces there and tried for years to get shut of the speedway, they were having to constantly take the corners of the pitch up for the speedway then put it back again after. It wasn't a big surprise when it came to an end, just typical that it was straight after winning the league!!

There's been attempts to resurrect it in West Yorks, particularly at Scammonden on a pretty much unused piece of land that has a quiet car park on it, but it got turned down after complaints from local residents...........both of them! Doubt it'll return again if I'm honest and there's no way I could switch to following a team from a different area

The Shay was a fantastic speedway track, loved the banking and the snack van !!

The Sahy was a great track, but not quite in the same class as Hyde Rd. the daddy of all Speedway tracks.
I used to see a lot of Kenny Carter Racing jackets for a while after Bradford closed, but I'm not sure there are many who still potter over for the Speedway now from Weirdosville.
On the plus side nice to see Leicester Lions revived.
