Sky Sports News understands Manchester City have turned down an approach from Italian giants Juventus for full-back Micah Richards.

Richards, 22, has struggled to secure a regular place in Roberto Mancini's star-studded first XI and has started just 10 league games this season.

The England international has already expressed his concerns to Mancini about his lack of action and recently indicated he would be prepared to leave Eastlands in search of regular football.

Serie A giants Juventus are thought to have enquired about Richards' availability after being impressed by his display in last month's Europa League clash between the sides.

But it seems Mancini still regards the versatile and powerful defender as a valuable member of his expensively-assembled squad.

Richards, who is hoping to make his return from a back injury in City's FA Cup tie at Notts County, has found himself sharing right-back duties with Jerome Boateng and Pablo Zabaleta this term.

He's our best right back anyway.
Boeteng was miles better centre back.
I'd really think of dropping toure, there's better options then hin in the squad.

Juve are pretty much the Liverpool of Serie A - not sure how the giants tag really fits anymore. 7th in the league and no one goes to watch their games. They have history though.

Just to go off at a tangent, for a moment, I love Italian football and I've always had a soft spot for Fiorentina, who are having a fairly disappointing season, with their away form especially needing to be improved.

However, what's the overall quality of their play like ?? Is it as disappointing as their League position would suggest or are they playing better than that but just not scoring enough goals to make a difference ??

On that basis, how is Gilardino performing, even though he's only scored seven or eight goals ?? Could we swap him for Jo ??

Hi Mikhail, I wish I could be of more help but I don't see enough of Fiorentina to be able to comment on that; I can tell you, though, that in the game they played against Roma in November (their only game I've seen) they were poor especially at the back, conceding too many chances to the Roma forwards, and they were lucky to just concede 3; on the other side of the pitch, though, they scored two, so not too bad there.

To be honest I don't have too much faith in Mihajlovic as a manager, he did well at Catania but I'm not sure he's ready for a team like Fiorentina.

Gilardino is a top class poacher, if you don't give him the right balls he will look very poor, but put one good ball into the box and he's more than likely to put it into the net; much less mobile than Dzeko or Tevez, but for sure he's two or three classes over Jo; the problem is that Mancini uses Jo as a winger on the left, and that is a job Gilardino won't be able to do.
