Hi mate. Macdonald Hotel is close to Piccadilly station, but you won't need to get a train to the stadium from your hotel. I'd recommend just getting the hotel to call you a taxi, it should only just a few pounds to City's ground. Either that or walk to Piccadilly station and just follow a group of City fans walking to the ground.

I was in Aris this week and i was treated very well by the Aris fans that i met and was drinking with so i am sure our fans will be hospitable to you. The only problem that we nearly got with Greek people was from PAOK fans who came to one of the pubs that we were in but they soon decided that discretion was the better part of valour.
Enjoy your stay in England but not the result :)

You won't need a scarf as the average tempreture in manchester is 92 degrees so bring shorts and vest and you will blend in with locals ;)
