Having read through this thread I am flabbergasted by the number of times people have quoted not going because of a "shit atmosphere"....
If these people went maybe there would be a better atmosphere.
I can understand the financial reasons and work reasons (no excuse for me, just back with my pension...)
BUT
Not going because of the atmosphere?
Crazy.

Some people seem to think that supporting your team is shouting like a fucking lunatic for 90 minutes, making noise, waving your hands about and generally being a knob, which makes them a better supporter than everyone else. Each to their own, some people do it spontaneously, some people do it when the side have their tails up, some people are reserved and choose to behave in a footbal ground how they would in normal society by being polite and applauding when they see something good, or critical when they see something bad.
There are good and bad sides to each of the groups described above, and there certainly isnt a right or wrong way to support your team. But, some people actually go to watch the football, and respond to what they see on the pitch.
There is precious little entertainment on offer these last 15 months, so its a bit of a chicken and egg situation. The players and manager often seem not to give a shit, which has clearly translated to the fans. They are paid, by us, to play football and win games - I shouldnt have to jump around like a fucking lunatic to motivate them to perform - and there is precious little evidence in this squad that it would make a difference anyway.

It sure was, and apart from a couple of lulls it was by far one of the best as late. Good to see so many stay to see the lads off, and them take time to praise the fans.
Apart from the score, a good night was had. Strangely, I was still in a good mood when I left.
