I think the main point that Wio and all the rag-press fail to highlight is that Mario couldn't possibly have been showing his badge to Rag fans, as there were none of them left in the fucking stadium by the full time whistle!!!

After the weekend´s historic FA Cup Semi-Final victory over Manchester United perhaps the ´noisy neighbours`, as Sir Alex Ferguson once famously dubbed them, are making too much of a racket on the pitch for comfort. It seems Mario Balotelli´s antics at the final whistle have offended United´s Rio Ferdinand, who is proving more famous for his Twitter comments than his football this season.

He posted: “If u score a goal + give a bit to opposing fans I kind of accept that but at the final whistle go to your own fans + enjoy it not opposing fans. If I offended anyone I apologise, emotions obviously running high.”

The former England captain has predictably had City fans reminding him of Gary Neville´s infamous celebration in front of Liverpool fans after Ferdinand himself had scored the winner at Old Trafford in 2006. But he was adamant this was a different situation, and again on Twitter he wrote: “All of you who are mentioning Gary Neville vs. Liverpool.....he was celebrating a GOAL (my goal) not the result so re-read my tweet beforehand perlease!”

Meanwhile, midfielder Nigel de Jong has hinted that an altercation of a different type took place in City´s dressing room at half-time, where a stand-up row inspired a hugely improved second-half performance. While not wishing to go into detail the Dutchman admitted certain players came face to face with each other, with a few home truths being told after what they considered to be a particularly lethargic first 45 minutes.

Whatever was said it certainly did the trick as they went on to book a place in the final against Stoke City on May 14, and they will come up against a man on a revenge mission. The last time the Sky Blues were at Wembley before last Saturday was for the Second Division play-off final against Gillingham in 1999, where they won on penalties after extra-time, and the opposition that day was managed by current Stoke boss Tony Pulis. Neither Pulis nor Manchester City had been back to Wembley before the weekend´s semi-finals and the former Gills chief needs no extra incentive as his club seeks a first trophy since 1972.

Boss Roberto Mancini has already called upon his own players to force United fans into tearing down a banner at the Stretford End which taunts City´s lack of success since 1976. The Italian is also convinced a great psychological hurdle has now been overcome by reaching a first major cup final since 1981, yet he knows the euphoria of victory over United must be forgotten as he focuses his players´ attention back on the matter of achieving a Champions League qualifying spot. The next game is on Monday night against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park and it is sure to be a tough test despite Rovers being just two points above the relegation zone, and possibly even in the bottom three if this weekend´s results go against them.

Good article by David. Shifting the point AWAY from Balotelli and instead focussing on the matter at hand; Ferdinand and his bullshit excuses.

Some more clever reporting. See? We do have people that know how to properly report. (sometimes)

Once more the tabloid hacks are weeing themselves trying to pin some awful deed upon Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli, after the fracas at the end of City’s surprisingly comfortable F.A. Cup semi-final win over Manchester United.

Once more they’re talking from their not inconsiderably-sized bottoms. Balotelli’s offence? To gently taunt United fans, from whom he’d been getting remorseless stick all afternoon, from the comfortable distance of near the halfway line. He didn’t run the length of the pitch a la Adebayor versus Arsenal or as Gary Neville did against both Liverpool and City (the second as a sub). He lifted his shirt at opposing fans from about 70 yards. Good grief, get a grip boys. If you can dish it out, you can certainly take the gentlest of taunting at the end of such a big game.

However, for the likes of Anderson, Nani and Rio Ferdinand it was as if Balotelli had fired a machine gun indiscriminately into the United end (he’d have been lucky to hit anyone given the speed with which the United fans had exited the ground). Ferdinand, in particular, acted disgracefully, charging around, big mouth flapping, trying (or at least pretending to try) to land one on a supremely unbothered Balotelli.

Then, horror of horrors, Balotelli winked at the blowhard Ferdinand, which led to another pretend charge from the United player. Of course, if the diminutive Shaun Wright-Phillips hadn’t intervened (SWP could probably sue Ferdinand for the cricked neck he suffered in the tangle), Ferdinand would definitely have lamped Balotelli. Oh yes.

Then, of course, Ferdinand started swearing at City coach David Platt, apparently telling Platt that he should be keeping Balotelli under control. That’s rich, Rio. Where was your manager during the game? In the stands after being banned from the touchline for calling a referee a cheat. And your star striker, Wayne Rooney, where was he? Oh, yes, banned for his foul-mouthed tirade into a TV camera at West Ham. And where was your central midfielder, Paul Scholes, at the final whistle? Taking an early shower after being shown a straight red for a disgraceful lunge on Pablo Zabaleta (Scholes had already somehow escaped without even a word from Mike Dean after a terrible tackle on Nigel de Jong in the fourth minute). Which team’s players and staff need controlling, Rio?

Or could it just be that you’re a very bad loser and that, as a former England captain, you provided a terrible role model for any kids watching by charging around at the final whistle trying to start a fight (or pretending to try to start a fight) and swearing at the opposing team’s staff because someone waved their shirt at some rapidly emptying seats from 70 yards and then winked at you.

It’s not Balotelli the F.A. should be looking at, it’s the pathetic Rio Ferdinand.

Thank you Paul Connoly. I also lol'ed at Danny Salford Red's comment. Bigot.

Never been a Balo fan because he has been a bit of a prick since coming to City but on Saturday he shot right up in my estimation. Hate is a strong word but i FUCKING HATE MANCHESTER UNITED PLC with all the hate in my body and for Balo to get right under their skin did if for me.

Anyone of us would have loved to have done what he did and maybe just maybe he became one of our own on Saturday. Loved the bit when Vinny grabbed him and he walked off towards the City fans lifting his shirt beaming. I also loved his reaction when Yaya scored and he dived on him. Just brillant!! Keep it Balo you cocky twat!!

What makes me laugh now all the facts have surfaced is that Ballo celebrated in front of an empty scum end of the stadium from the FUCKING HALF WAY LINE,,,pmsl...you couldn't make it up could you.

Kudos to Mancini for ..."shall we put him in jail"..hilarious.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Mancini was the first one backing Balotelli up as well, when he had four RAG players snarling at him.

City haven't had many players that other fans hate, maybe Bellers is the exception, so it's good to have one in our locker.
Our own 'Neville, Scholes etc', that the other fans hate, is fine in my book.
However, he still has to show consistant form, and be less of a 'bomb waiting to go off'.
Once that is sorted, we can enjoy all the fringe benefits with glee.
