The Everton result

Postby yorkieblue » Mon May 09, 2011 5:56 am

has pissed me off more than any other result so far this season (maybe apart from Scum result) after Arsenal lost yeaterday, because off what might have been, we would have 99% qualified for CL, plus almost have a fairly good chance of overtaking Arsenal. How did we lose that game. peeved off.

poor finishing and shite defender was our downfall, game should have been won before they scored their first goal!!!

Simple, we failed to put it to bed when we were comfortably dominating it in the first half, wasting lots of chances.

The pat chance in the first half was the game changer for me, I had a feeling when he missed that sitter it wasn't going to be our day against Everton.. yet again :(

A tale of missed chances all in all as you say CFFR.

Didnt feel to bad which is a bit weird.I suppose it's because we rarely get anything there.
I also think it could be considered as one of those things to lose a game where we could have won easily BUT the fact that our record is as poor as it is against the better sides makes me feel it is not like that. We just don't seem to get good results against the good sides who are really up for it.And Everton were only up for it fully for 30 minutes and they still beat us!!

I think there were a hell of a lot of plusses from the Everton game & as I've said on the other thread, given the ineptitude of the ref, giving them free kicks around our box for nothing whilst simultaneously letting them kick the shit out of us, I don't think rags or anyone else would have fared any better 2nd half. the difference would have been; they would have killed the game before then.

There's been one real sickener for me & that was meekly surrendering to a very average Liverpool team. Everton was always going to be a tough game & we totally took them to the cleaners 1st half. Very promising performance imo. Signs of a side being built, which is what I've been asking for.

We should have been out of sight,4 nil up at half time wouldnt have been flattering.

The manager should have changed it early though,Pat V had gone and was a passenger should have put Milner in the middle and brought on AJ.

the main thing that fucked me off is once again our complete lack of fight when they got level.

This!

If we do make it to the Champions League we will never win anything unless we get a bit of fight in us! I worry sometimes about this, I really think we lack heart and will crumble at the first hurdle in the Chumps, that would be even worse than not qualifying at all in my book!

Vieira's legs had gone, along with Yaya & whenever we did 'fight' that useless fat twat gave the diving scouse bastards a free kick.

The good points are:

1. If Kompany was due a bad game, rather then than against Tottenham or the final.

2. After we got dicked by Liverpool we went on with a determination and won a couple of decent games.

3. The team was a changed lineup, maybe we need to learn how to chop and change and still win.. great teams can.

4. Its only a matter of time before Dzeko starts banging them in, this game enabled him more time to 'adjust'.

Were one win away from CL and were in the FA Cup final. Losses like the last game can make you a stronger team overall. Lets forget Everton now Were nearly there.

On another day he would've slotted one in the bottom corner. Alas the luck just wasn't with us at goodison.

after paddys miss I knew it wouldn't be our day - agree with the general feeling that we gave up the ghost after they went level - this has been a problem for us for over a decade - probably longer - maybe its something in the water
