Nice thankyou.
I suppose its good for us to be so alltruistic but we do seem to have dropped a bollock IMO as far as Phill goes.
And the thing about being able to score in an unbalanced league strikes me as somewhat odd.Would people not have someone like Messi,Villa,Eto for example because they haven't done it in the prem. Why have we taken a risk on Edin ?
Not altruism, we agreed a fair market price. We were happy to have someone take on his wages. If that figure is accurate then he was on a lot less than I expected.
Caicedo had his moments for us but he was a young raw footballer and he got lost in the mix. He was signed as long term by Sven but pressure was higher because he was expensive and a mid-season signing at a time when we needed a striker. Because he was more expensive than Benjani, more was expected immediately.
I haven't really seen him for Levante but it seems that a run of games and the opportunities to have the team more built around him has worked wonders. It's a world of difference between being an expensive kid from two managers ago when there's crazy amounts of talent in the squad and being the highest paid player in the squad (even before you factor in the fact that we were paying him the same amount again).
From the article there might also be an element that playing in England helped him. He's a physical player and he came up against physical defenses that didn't give you a lot of time, this is exactly what you need if you're going to be living off long balls and scraps, even (especially) in Spain.
