Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Goals in different periods of a game

Postby kinkylola » Wed Jun 08, 2011 9:37 am

Goals per segment of match
Team 0-15 16-30 31-45 46-60 61-75 76-90
Manchester United 10 10 14 8 16 20
Chelsea 8 10 13 8 10 20
Manchester City 13 11 9 8 14 5
Arsenal 13 10 11 14 6 18
Tottenham 7 11 8 6 10 13
Liverpool 10 7 9 12 12 9

Table turned out really shitty there after a quick copy paste, and I don't have time to format it, check out the article for a nicer looking version + analysis.

Interesting that it kind of dispels the perception that we come out of the gate slowly ... though right before and after half time we are not very effective ... as well as at the end of games.

We start games well, but those statistics seem to point out that we don't finish games well. Hopefully Mancnini tries to improve this. I don't want to be as nervous in the final minutes of games next season.

Doesn't mean we don't finish games well ... what if we've scored 3 first half and we go defensive? We don't seem to attack late on, and we make defensive subs quite a bit I think, so that if we give up a goal or fall behind, it's hard for us to come back. That's my opinion anyway.

You have got to admit though that we are definitely the worst team of top teams to turn games into wins/draws at the end of matches. And in addition to other top4 teams that includes scouse1 + spurs + possibly others too!

edit: and there's no way you need a table to know that!
