In talks with Cardiff...didn't Bellamy have less than complimentary words to say about Shearer? If this turn out to be confirmed it's one less potential suitor for Bellers services (even if finances were ok)

Honestly think if he went there as player/manager he'd easily still be one of the league's top scorers come next May!

There's zero chance they could be in same team. Shearer was promised to deck Bellamy should they ever meet again.

Player manager talk is nonsense imo. A lad on my footy team won a comp to go train at Newcastle with the first team coaches in Shearer's last pro season and at the end we were supposed to have a penalty comp with Alan Shearer. The week before we went upto the Toon, they had a derby with Sun'lan and someone (i forget who it was) snapped his knee. He retired early, and we never got to take penos with him.

Did get to have a chat with him though, after his reptilian-media-servant had taken pains to explain to what we couldn't ask him. After his patronising debrief he tried to get us onside and said, 'Apart from that that you can ask him anything you like, the capital of Peru or anything!', the dick. My mate Tony-the-gaffer replied deadpan without a moments notice; 'Lima'. The guy didn't haave clue. Oh how we laughed.

shows what a useless shit run club Cardiff are if they are sacking Dave Jones who is good for them and has a track record of dointg well at that level. Then going for a waster of space in a wannabe manager who has no track record whatsoever, I hope they crash and burn.

Agree regarding Jones. He has done really good job over the years with Cardiff making them genuine top end Championship contenders and when they'll eventually come up they'll be in much better shape than lot of teams coming up. I'm not saying he is best manager in the world or probably even in Championship but he is hell of a lot better than complete rookie Shearer who for me has shown none of the qualities expected from future top manager.

Besides, if this works out for Shearer, he'll be off soon enough. If it doesn't, they'll be a complete mess. I don't see what there is to gain for Cardiff here.

If I was Cardiff I would be trying to prise Warnock away from QPR. Writing seems to be on the wall there and I can't see him lasting til christmas.

or someone like Malkay Mackay who's used to working with minimal budgets and still gets Watford to play good football.

They'll prob end up with Billy Davies

Warnock knows that if he doesn't hit the ground running, he might be in for a chop. However Warnock loves nothing more than to have yet another chance to play a victim. He wouldn't miss a chance to have few months worth of moans about how "great English managers like himself are treated".

Allegedly he's on 500k a year to talk crap on TV, so I imagine it would take a huge wedge to persuade him to do a real job.

Talk about coincidences:

Watford have rejected an official approach from fellow Championship side Cardiff City for their manager Malky Mackay.

Cardiff, still seeking to replace Dave Jones after talks with the former England striker Alan Shearer broke down on Tuesday, turned to the 39-year-old Scot who has impressed in two seasons at Watford.

However, a statement from Watford said the approach for Mackay had been rebuffed.

The Watford owner, Laurence Bassini, told the club's website: "We don't want Malky to leave Watford and we will do everything in our power to keep him at Vicarage Road."

Chris Hughton and Roberto Di Matteo have been linked with the Cardiff role but are also thought to be on the shortlist for the Birmingham job.
