People actually turned out for that? I genuinely thought they were just people doing a bit of evening shopping.

Bout as funny as wiping me arse with sandpaper - they are totally obsessed. The last thing they should be mentioning is victory parades after the humilliation of May 30th

Having three stars on our badge really gets to them, doesn't it?

It really gets to me to be honest. It's embarrassing.

Why? Its just a badge design, the stars signify nothing. I know other clubs/countries use them for WC's won etc but it's not law. In our case it was merely an asymetrical pattern/design .... The 11 stars on the pitch should be all anyone is ever embarrassed about (hopefully not thou eh)

I work abroad a lot (in Spain) and if I had a euro for every time I've been asked what they stand for, well... On the continent one star tends to stand for 10 domestic league titles (eg. Juve, Milan). It's embarrassing to turn around and say "errr... we've only won two league titles but we wanted a continental-style design". I'd give anything to get the badge of my youth back. I feel nothing towards this one.

THIS THIS THIS

I STILL think our current badge is bit crap and love the old badge (and you really really old people...... I know that there are even OLDER versions). In fact, here I am sitting in office sporting retro shirt with old badge. And yes, the stars on our badge wind up people and to be honest for all the wrong reasons.

Edit. Also, I don't buy "it's just design" explanation. Badge is supposed to stand for things. The ship, the rose, the shield..... those are things that stand for something. Stars stand for fuck all.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Certainly with you on the old badge, that change along with the 'lazer blue' bollox at the same time were puzzling times in our history. It was almost as if some bright spark in advertising thought "so the club is at its lowest point ever, lets give the 'brand' a makeover" .... Yeah the old badge did stand for things, the new one doesn't, which was kind of my point really
