Still a top keeper and we should be delighted to have him.

Sometimes you get lucky with errors ,yesterday he didn't and it cost.Other keepers miss the ball it hits them full in the face and rebounds to safety!

That's the top & bottom of it. Imo he could have done better with quite a few of the goals we've let in but he's one of the best keepers around & will get better & better.

things happen - but he needs to work on this aspect

I do hope the first thing he did when he wakjed off the pitch was grovellingly apologise to his captain whose red card was entirely down to Joe's lack of concentration

Tbf, Vinny was really stupid to get sent off. If it was 1-0 with 10 mins to go, fair enough, but with a two goal margin & bossing the game ? How does he know Joe wasn't going to save it anyway ? Imo, the sending off is 100% Vinny's fault & could have cost us. Poor judgement.

He will be drilled on what’s called "pushing the ball out of the gate" basically anywhere not in front of you. I thought it was a bad error and he has had couple this season but like Doug says he will be well aware that he has cocked up and will work hard to rectify these little errors that are creeping in.

I think some of it will be down to concentration as there are long periods for Joe where he is pretty redundant in games but all top class keepers excel in this area. He is young though in terms of a keeper and I think he will go on to be one of the best in world football, he has everything.

On side note isnt Vinny banned for 1 game as was Evans last week?? He missed the CC in midweek and played yesterday.

Nice to get a 'keeper's point of view.

I think Vinny will get 1 game.

As a keeper you know when you f**k up and he will be itching to get back into training tomo. I reckon he has applogised to Vinny for the part he played in his card.

Does a keeper prefer to have loads of heroics to perform or a quiet game doing f all ?

I always wanted clean sheets, that was always a number one priority so I didn’t mind having a quiet game. But I would be lying if I said I didn’t love getting a clean sheet but playing a huge part in that. You have certain days as a keeper when you know that opposition could play till midnight and not score past you. I used to love demoralising forwards.

But a lot of it is down to lack of concentration, which is probably his biggest problem

I would swap him for Reina; maybe even Brad Friedel
And Shay Given

Given is a busier keeper, not a better one. Friedel at his best was better than Hart currently is, but you wouldn't swap now.

Hart made a mistake yesterday. Mancini will be aware, in fact he was asked about it post match so he definitely knows now. Aguero made a mistake with his miss, Silva missed a lot of passes, Barry got himself booked. Difference is, when a keeper makes a mistake it's usually a goal.

Here in Italy we say that there are 2 types of excellent goalkeepers.
those for top teams and those mediocre/poor teams.
those for mediocre teams are always under pressure. for 90 minutes every game. they have to make many saves per game and often they make a good impression.
the good ones for top teams rarely have to parry. many games they are just watching the game having nothing to do. their skill is to stay focused even though they have nothing to do.
I'm worry Hart is an excellent keeper. excellent but suitable for mediocre teams.

he needs to work on his handling.
the boy needs to hold on to the balls (NOT his testicles)

Cheers. It's something I've often wondered about as Gk is a unique position.

I'd agree with almost all of this except the concluding sentence.

I think Hart has the ability to be a top keeper for a top team but he needs to sort out this parrying problem asap before it starts to cost us points as well as goals (as it has already in the CL).

My main worry about our GK situation is the relative lack of competition for Hart. I understand why Shay felt he had to move on but without him breathing down Hart's neck I think Joe has let his game slip slightly.
