In my close family I have an uncle (by marriage) & two of his kids who are rags. He is a full tilt long term rag fanatic. Everyone else is blue & has been throughout history & most have been to at least one game, some have or have had season tickets.

I have seen my rag uncle once at a game; about 3 mins after the final whistle in '76 after we'd beaten the rags 4-0 in the League Cup. He was delighted to see us.

My grandparents a few hundred yards away from Maine Road and the family was blue through and through until my uncle married an Irish woman who supported ManUre and then the red rot set in.

Given the relative fortunes of the two teams over the past 30 years it's easy to see how my younger cousins were tempted over to the dark side.

Now it's about 50-50 between the blues and red and family gatherings can get quite heated!

Oh, and I have one uncle in his late 70s who genuinely support both Manchester teams unless they are playing each other in which case he slightly favours us but only just!

My 4 kids are all City fans (Mum support Charlton!!) and my daughter and youngest son are City mad and want nothing but City kit for Christmas. Can't wait for the next family party!!!!

Been in France, until Sunday Caught up with Family tonight, My sister in Law tells me my Brother was close to crying when the 4/5 and 6th went in. He went to bed and stormed out Monday to work, advising his family I was blue twat. Nice, My crime the only blue in the family. Texted him tonight as he is working nights and over a week later got this reply, FUCK YOU AND YOUR BERTIE MATES. That is all he said Bizare mental state for a grown man, now phone off as I wanted a word with him,I have never laughed as much, in fact I intend to twist him so bad he will now need therapy. Love him but utter rag tosser when talking football.
