I diagree, for reasons that have already been mentioned in the thread.

You're absolutely allowed to sir!

I do think though generally and as a defender myself (albeit at a slightly lower standard ;) ) the hardest players to play against are quick, nifty wingers with quick feet, especially once they break into the box as anything other than a perfect tackle will lead to a penalty.

I'm not saying he should dribble all the time obviously but sometimes it would be nice to see him 'do' the defender a bit more often and break into the box. He's got a natural talent for dribbling, would be foolish to waste it.

I think AJ is young enough and talented enough to do what SWP was unable to do and that's to re-invent himself.

I just feel that perhaps Bobby Manc sees him more as a midfield player with the ability to score goals through his shooting ability, perhaps even as an eventual future playmaker, as evidenced by his performance in the Carling Cup against Wolves; one example being the equaliser where he hung back a little and scored from a central position when the ball was played back to him.

His pass to Nasri for City's second goal, from a deeper central position, was the archetypal playmaker's ball and since Bobby Manc requires the full backs to provide the attacking width in his sides, in my mind it might not be too long before we stop thinking of AJ as a winger.

Perhaps this is partly why the Manager has been critical of him neglecting the defensive aspects to his game as well, since being an all round midfielder requires this kind of total input.

Bobby Manc seems to have revitalised Micah Richards as a player, so why can't he be just as successful with an AJ conversion project, if that's what he has in mind ??

AJ seems to be best coming off the bench. He needs to be far more consistent if he wants to be in the starting 11 in huge games.
He has the ability to be world class. It's up to him whether he becomes world class or not.

It's the timing of the dribbles that are eemportant. Essentially, we are a pass and move team. I would suggest he pass first and select his moments to dribble. Methinks he has chosen the dribble option too much in the past and flowing moves have broken down.

He's definitely a moments of individual brilliance player. Unfortunately for him, that's likely why he's consigned to the bench until we need a game-changer.

Nice goals, but a mard arse who needs to get on with making himself consistent for 90 minutes. Take note, Johnson, we never hear a negative peep of discontent from the real stars of the club.
