AC Milan in talks to sign Manchester City's Carlos Tevez
Tevez could join former City striker Robinho at AC Milan AC Milan have opened talks with Carlos Tevez's advisors about a January move for the Manchester City striker.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also keen on the Argentine but his advisor, Kia Joorabchian, met AC officials in Milan on Thursday, BBC Sport has learned.
Joorabchian is quoted as having told reporters in Italy: "I spoke to Carlos and he is happy to move to Italy.
"We have spoken to Milan and the big Italian clubs are good options. Tevez wants to play at an important club."
City are only prepared to let Tevez leave on a permanent deal.
Tevez, 27, has been expected to leave City since he was found guilty of committing five breaches of contract in a Champions League game in September.
The striker has scored 44 goals in 63 league starts for Manchester City and has another nine goals in cup competitions
AC Milan are in the market for a striker as a replacement for Antonio Cassano, who is out for the season after undergoing a heart operation.
At present, there have been no direct talks between City and AC Milan over the transfer as Tevez's advisor first seeks to broker a deal.
City will only sell Tevez if the price suits them but they are keen to offload the striker, with manager Roberto Mancini recently reiterating his view that the striker is unlikely to play for the club again.
Tevez failed to report for training this month during the international break and was then photographed returning to Argentina, prompting the club to instruct their lawyers to take action.
It was the latest twist in an ongoing saga between Tevez and the club, who currently top the Premier League table.
The former Manchester United striker asked for a move away from England last December, stating he wanted to be closer to his family.
Then, in September, Mancini alleged that Tevez refused to come off the substitutes' bench in a Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich, while the player maintained there had been a misunderstanding.
An internal club investigation concluded that Tevez, who joined City in July 2009, was guilty of five breaches of his contract and the player was fined four weeks' wages, reduced to two following intervention from the Professional Footballers' Association.

Who should be right back in the England team?
With a host of top right backs now playing in the Premier League, we've asked a number of former players to select their current favourites.
Who should be on the right side of Fabio Capello's defence as the European Championships fast approach?
ROB JONES (Ex-Liverpool and England)
A few years ago there was nobody who could fill that role long-term for England but now the situation has changed. Good full backs are vital to successful teams, as they have the intelligence to capitalise on the space wingers leave for them. As Glen Johnson is only just finding his stride again after injury, I’d have to say Micah Richards has been the most consistent this season. Every time I have seen him, he has been a
workhorse bombing up and down the flank. He’s an outstanding talent.
BRENDON BATSON (Former West Brom and England defender)
The change in the rules about the tackle from behind has seen the discipline change. When I played I felt I’d let my team-mates down if allowed a winger to cross the ball. Now full backs are attacking players and strong athletes — I’m not sure many would cope against a real winger. They often vacate space behind them for opponents to exploit. There’s few to match what Gary Neville was. I like Fabio at Manchester United but of English players I think Micah Richards deserves more of a chance. Phil Jones is good and adaptable, Glen Johnson is good going forward but Richards probably edges it overall.
DANNY MILLS (Ex-Leeds, Derby and England)
It really depends on the style a team plays. Right backs are getting attention as lots of goals are being scored but, really, that highlights poor defending. If you are a right back you are there first and foremost to defend. England haven’t had anyone outstanding in that role since Gary Neville. Micah Richards is the best one at the moment. He has been fantastic this season and I was bemused by his absence from Manchester City’s team in Naples on Tuesday. Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker are good going forward but they have questions to answer defensively.

PHIL NEAL Former Liverpool and England star)
There are a lot of good young ones coming through — and I think you can add Liverpool’s Martin Kelly to the list. I wouldn’t like to single one out. Phil Jones is a jack of all trades, but that’s no bad thing. I was like that at Northampton and it’s good for your education. Micah Richards doesn’t get forward as much as I would like, something you can’t say about Kyle Walker, but Glen Johnson has got a bit of confidence back. I had the likes of Viv Anderson and Mick Mills keeping me on my toes, but then Gary Neville didn’t seem to be threatened too much. It goes in cycles.
VIV ANDERSON (Ex-Forest, Arsenal, Man United and England)
Phil Jones is the best at the moment for several reasons; he’s composed on the ball, good in the box, strong going forward and he’s the most natural defender of the lot. First and foremost, you have to be able to defend. Kyle Walker is good going forward and so are Glen Johnson and Micah Richards. These things go in cycles and at the moment it’s right backs. It was the same with keepers when I played — they couldn’t decide between Ray Clemence and Peter Shilton so they rotated, but Mick Mills and Phil Neal both played right back in my time.
RAY STEWART (Former West Ham penalty king)
They all like to get forward and express themselves, but you wonder whether that is hiding any defensive weaknesses. You can get caught out by a winger, but if you put in 40 crosses, people think you’ve had a good game. In my day, as a full back, you had to be able to defend first and foremost. Tottenham’s Kyle Walker was exceptional for England and Glen Johnson is as good as you can get these days.
MEL STERLAND (Won title with Leeds and won one England cap)
When I was playing there were nowhere near as many good right backs around. Micah Richards has everything — and gets forward. He needs no encouragement. Howard Wilkinson was always nagging me to bomb on! Kyle Walker is the best of the bunch, though. He doesn’t fear anything. He just needs to work on his defending a bit.
GARY STEVENS (Ex-Tottenham and England defender)
The current glut of right backs is nothing more than a trend. It just happens from time to time in different positions and it’s not like anyone chooses to be a right back! Every player starting out wants to be a striker. But the competition drives each one on so they all improve. My favourite is Kyle Walker of Tottenham. I like defenders who defend first rather than someone like Glen Johnson, whose priority seems to be to attack. Walker wants to defend and then uses the opportunity to get forward at the right times. He may be relatively inexperienced but he did not look out of place for England.

Liverpool legend Barnes "disgusted" by behaviour of Man City's Tevez
Liverpool legend John Barnes has slammed the behaviour of Manchester City's AWOL striker Carlos Tevez.
Barnes has hit out at the lack of respect he showed the club and their fans and wants City to stop him from leaving the club to make a stand against player power in football.
“I’m very disappointed because I like Carlos Tevez,” he told talkSPORT. “I think he’s a fantastic player. Not only is he a fantastic player but he gives 110 per cent when he plays.
“He may argue that he will still give 110 per cent when he plays but he’s been completely disrespectful to the game of football. Not just Manchester City, that’s self explanatory that he’s been disrespectful to Manchester City.
“He showed a distinct lack of respect to the game of football because if he feels like he can act in the manner that he does, every other player can act that way as well, or is it just him that can act that way?
“I’m disgusted with his behaviour. I would like Manchester City to make a stand and insist he is going nowhere, if they can afford to keep him. [It would] make a stand to say players can’t get away with this because [he’s showing] a lack of respect for his team-mates, for the football club and for the game.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirms he will 'use some players who have played less' for League Cup tie with Manchester City
The Gunners boss says he will wait for the outcome of the Fulham game to decide the team that will face City, and admits the risk in playing Robin van Persie so frequently
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he could play some of his more inexperienced players against Manchester City in the League Cup on Tuesday.
Gunners face Fulham on Saturday at the Emirates, and Wenger says the match will decide the changes he will make for the clash with Roberto Mancini’s side.
“I want to see the game on Saturday to answer that question,” he was quoted as saying by the club's official website. “I will certainly play some players who have played less.
“But still we will try to have a good mixture between young players and experience so we have a good chance to win the game.”
The Frenchman also spoke of the gamble he takes when starting star striker Robin van Persie in the majority of matches.
"You have to accept the gamble and the risk," said Wenger. "We had periods with Thierry Henry going through stages like this, it's the same.
"Risk is part of the game and enjoyment demands risk. You have to just play full through it and that's life. That's part of sport.
"I am only thinking one game ahead because every game is vital at the moment. After the game I assess everybody and look who needs a rest or not. At the moment we are not in a calculation period, we are in a frenetic desire to win our next game."
Despite accusations that Arsenal are a one-man team spearheaded by Van Persie, Wenger believes his whole side are essential to help the Gunners win trophies this season.
"I care about every player and I feel sorry for the players who do not get the satisfaction of playing," he said. "But at the same time in the press conference people say: ‘Your squad is not big enough, why don’t you buy more players?’
"It’s difficult to find the right number of players you can have in the squad but in a season like England you need the players you have. And we have a big squad.
"We have as well chosen a job where we accept competition. And I think the players all agree with that and accept competition – but sometimes it’s difficult to agree with my decisions and I accept that.”
Andrey Arshavin, who has been heavily criticised in recent months, has found himself with limited opportunities lately, but Wenger has refused to label him a fringe player.
The Frenchman added: "He’s not a back-up player but at the moment he doesn’t play. Maybe he will play on Saturday.
"I feel sorry for every player who doesn’t play but it is part of our job. Competition is part of our job and you must accept that in some periods of your career somebody can get in front of you."
