More pertinently, Barry created more for Everton than he did for us last night. I thought he was shocking at Wigan and even worse tonight. He runs like he is wading through treacle.

Yeah but did you agree with me on that thread?
I don't think I received one positive reply to it; and maybe not even one who wanted to hang, draw and quarter me for saying it.

I'm a bit worried about Bareth to be honest. Remember how easily he was upset by the Villa fans first time we played them after the move? He is starting to look really nervy now and we have to remember he has no experience of being remotely close to winning a major league, then again neither have most of our midfield. Others might take it in their stride but I think he is currently struggling with it and needs time to get used to the idea. Hopefully he can regain the form we saw from him for most of this season! Maybe Yaya coming back will boost his confidence, his very presence must make a big difference to those around him in our midfield.

No I didn't agree with you. But at the same time I didn't have a pop either, although I thought it a very harsh assessment even after watching it again. That at Everton t'other night was more obvious. Maybe you are onto something, maybe not.

I have never been fooled into thinking Barry was a good player before he came to us, I was disappointed with the signing and I was disappointed with his performances when he arrived.

However towards the end of last season he started to show some good performances, his pace has improved and until the new year I feel he had been excellent for the vast majority of this season.

I am not stupid enough to think that a few little blips matter in the grand scheme of things given the tremendous improvements he has made. Barry for me is one of our most improved players of the last 18 months and is starting to become one of the names on the team sheet that can be written in permanent ink.
