...and that LookMum....just will not happen.

Rangers, Port Vale, Portsmouth and the rest are no different now to the likes of Darwen, Glossop, Accrington Stanley and the wonderfully named Middlesbough Ironopolis of the past. Bad financial management, trying to spend more than they earned in a chase for honours or survival has been around since the beginnings of the game. They adjust their financial behaviour and life continues or they disappear and another club replaces them.

The Premier League isn't prefixed with "ENGLISH"...It is an international competition...foreign owners, foreign players and coaches, that happens have grown and be based in England. It will continue to grow, continue to attract more money from the outside World, be they owners, sponsors, business partners or peripheral businesses such as betting companies, the media etc that can earn profit from being attached to the game.

Look at the States and you will see that our Premier League is small frycompared to the financial levels some of their sports work at.

There's been around five or six 'big' teams fighting it out this season, and a couple of high profile managerial casualties from those not in automatic promotion places. Their budgets have been closer to the Championship level from what I understand, with the expectation that goes with it.

@Gillie...(with apologies to Halnone for hijacking his thread again)

In answer to your question Gille mate the 1967-68 record for the rags that corresponds to the present situation was

Played 27, Won 17, Drew 7, Lost 3, Pts 58 (converted to 3pts per win).

Hope that helps.
