I peaked too early, got a hangover during the game and fell asleep outside a bar. Woke up freezing and needing to go home.
Does this help?
Nice ground though.

On the TV it looked horrible. Second only to the Maksimir in Zagreb of any stadium of a 'top' club.

What gave you that impression?

It's a cracking stadium.

The colour scheme on the seating is a bit dodgy but apart from that it's as nice as any I've been too.

That sounds a pretty fair viewpoint. That big moat thingy is a bit odd mind.

They had one of those at Racing when I went there to watch us in 08/09. A guy tried jumping it pissed out of his head and just disappeared into the abyss. If anyone else was there, they'll definitely remember this.

EDIT: The trench thing can be seen clearly in this video, as can I (briefly).

Must've been a pretty grim impact.

It did look like they'd bought all the seats second hand from loads of different stadiums as they're all different colours

What gave you that impression?

1. There was something that made the fans appear 'disconnected' from the game- couldn't put my finger on it, but after reading this thread, it might have been that moat.

2. Seats were really bizarre. However, I guess one major effect of the seats being coloured in this way is that it makes the stadium appear to be much fuller than it is, through a kind of optical illusion/camouflage effect.

3. Handrails etc. looked like they'd been stolen from a swimming pool in early 1980s Leicester.

Like I said, I only saw it on TV, but it didn't look too snazzy.

Not too many stories to tell dazby, it was just a run of the mill euro trip with some beautiful weather thrown in for good measure. Most of the City fans congregated around the main Rossio square drinking superboc which is quite strong judging by a few of them looking the worse for wear in the afternoon before the game. The only annoying part of the trip was being hassled every five minutes by looky looky men selling big plastic sun glasses and drug dealers offering hash and coke.
Just before the kick off i got about a dozen text messages flying in saying i had just been on the telly, seems the cameras pan on the good looking ones ;)

Had a bit of a footie fest on the two trips to Portugal.

Went and saw Braga v Besiktas whilst in Porto and during the trip to Lisbon I nipped along to see Benfica v Zenit. Thought that all four stadiums were impressive but Braga probably just about edged it for the location.
