AJ today

Postby BobbyJ1956 » Sat Apr 14, 2012 3:12 pm

Scored a sitter but what did Mancini say to Kidd when AJ missed from an angle a few yards out, soon after he'd come on? He had that wry smile and murmured something - "eez a wanker" or "ee not going to make it, eh?" Fin eperformance otherwise from City, good football, resilient when they had to be,and Aguero just brilliant.

Do we really have to find fault in a player today?
He took his goal well.

It was nice to see him on the left hand side. It suits him.

the best part about his goal you would think was his clinical finish, BUT it wasn't. Watch the play again and he is about to run into space when the ball gets played to Kun instead of him and for an instant he flaps his arms in distress because he feels he has a clear path to goal but after 2 seconds of flapping around like a small fish out of water, he continues his run and gets on the end of that ball.

that's the fucking spirit we're missing sometimes. Sure you could say that it's the most basic thing, but when we fail to deliver it's because fantastic players don't get the basics right and look for the incredible.

i was proud of him for persevering and making that run. it mattered.

That was also a classic 'width' goal of the type some people are ridiculously saying can't be incorporated into our play. Of course it can. Crosses don't have to end in headers or be converted directly. That was the kind of link up Barnes & Tueart used to have; one wide player to the other, then a finish.

The most important thing was he never went anywhere near the right hand halfway line where an idiot can see he is a liability. The system works great if you have movement. It looks shite playing with cones for strikers.
